Texas Universities Warn Faculty to 'Avoid Sensitive Topics' Due to Insane Gun Laws

The University of Houston recently held a meeting to discuss an important upcoming change on campus: the fact that students will be allowed to carry concealed handguns. From August 1, University of Houston, along with the rest of Texas’ public universities, will implement last year’s decision by the state’s Republican-run legislature to lawfully permit students, faculty, and anyone else who feels like it, to come to class locked and loaded.

The meeting was just one of a number taking place at campuses across Texas facing this insane law. A slideshow from the meeting outlines some of the university's helpful suggestions for handling a class of potentially-armed students. And they are chilling:

Another slide suggests avoiding “provocative statements.” Given the subjectivity of this and many of the university's other recommendations, concealed carry is already beginning to sound a lot like the start of a new sort of police state. Only instead of the authorities it will be a bunch of vigilante students. What could possibly go wrong there?
