Super Bowl Stadium Is Surprisingly Enviro (VIDEO)

Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California features a 27,000 square foot green, three solar-paneled pedestrian bridges, a solar-paneled roof deck, and uses reclaimed water for both drinking and irrigating the playing field. Levi's Stadium is also the first pro football field to earn LEED Gold Certification or Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design, a green building certification program that recognizes best-in-class building strategies and practices.

LED panels, wind turbines and solar-powered lights let team execs show fans that they care about the environment, while also saving money on electric bills. In 2015 the solar institutions at 10 professional football venues had a combined capacity go 8.5 MW. On game day, that's enough power to keep 56 million carbonated frosty in 33,000 refrigerators, melt the cheese on 255,000 plates of microwavable nachos and run the TVs at 105,000 watch parties.

Levi's stadium will also generate enough power in one year to meet the electricity demand for every San Francisco 49ers’ home game.
