'Most Progressives I Know Were Against the War in Iraq': Sanders Blasts Clinton's Progressive Record in Tweet Storm
As the democratic race heats up between Senator Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton, a new sharper tone seems to be emerging on between the two camps, specifically over Clinton's record as a self-proclaimed "progressive".
The tiff began when Sanders told NBC’s Alex Seitz-Wald that Clinton was only progressive “some days”:
Team Hillary wasn’t having any of this.
The Sanders camp struck back with a fairly aggressive string of subtweets. This is notable for two reasons: 1) it marks a serious shift in tone to direct attacks with a note of sarcasm and 2) It’s done in first person, which seems to imply these are the Senator’s own words:
Then the official tweet storm began...
The Clinton camp has yet to strike back, but the theme of Clinton's "progressive" record is sure to be a major one in the upcoming news cycle and debates.
UPDATE: Sanders just used Clinton's own design against here, with an updated list of her "nonprogressive" days. Ouch. This had officially gotten ugly.
