It's World Hijab Day: And I Took a Selfie That Would Make Donald Trump Tremble with Rage

World Hijab Day, February 1, is an invitation for non-Muslim women to wear the hijab. On the fourth annual World Hijab Day, I was inspired by Michael Moore and Muslim-American activist Saba Ahmed to wear an American flag hijab in front of Trump Tower in NYC. Most New Yorkers barely noticed. A few sneered. A few more asked for pics.
On the day of the Iowa caucus, it’s important to remember Donald Trump’s hateful islamophbic rhetoric and our true New York values: freedom and unity.Â
