Did You Catch That Surprising 'Campaign' Ad During the GOP Debates From Frank Underwood?
Frank Underwood, the sleazy, backstabbing, cheating, murderous, underhanded, double-dealing, morally bankrupt Democrat politician at the center of Netflix’s “House of Cards,” used to seem like a (very slight) caricature of an American politician. But at this point, he almost seems like one of the good guys — comparatively, anyway.
Maybe that’s why Netflix chose to remind us of the newest season of its popular political procedural right in the middle of the Republican debate. The network aired a fake campaign ad featuring all the heart-stirring hallmarks we’ve come to recognize: shots of farms in the heartland, industrious Americans building stuff together, military families reunited. And then, just when you thought you were watching yet another campaign commercial, President Frank Underwood appears onscreen, stating, “America, I’m only getting started.”
It’s definitely meant as a threat.
Brilliantly, the candidate who couldn’t give a rat’s ass about anyone (except his wife, maybe) has his virtual campaign hub at FU2016.com. If the initials fit….
