Watch: Obama Slams Shameful GOP Proposals for a Religious Test for Refugees: 'Shameful, Not American'

Over the weekend, GOP candidates Jeb Bush and Ted Cruz both floated the profoundly un-Christian proposal that the U.S. allow only Christian Syrians into the country.

Speaking at the G20 summit on Monday, President Obama issued a blistering critique of a refugee policy that would discriminate based on religion. 

“When I hear folks say that we should just admit the Christians but not the Muslims. When I hear political leaders suggesting that there would be a religious test [based on which country] a person who's fleeing from a war-torn country is admitted, when some of those folks themselves come from families who benefited from protection when they were fleeing political persecution, that’s shameful," Obama said to reporters. "That’s not American, that’s not who we are.”
