Larry Wilmore Asks Bernie Sanders: Is America Ready for a Socialist President? (VIDEO)

Larry Wilmore sat down with Bernie Sanders Monday night in a segment called "Tyler Perry Presents Lee Daniels' Soul Food Sit-Down With Larry Wilmore, Based on the novel 'Pull' by Sapphire, Featuring Sen. Bernie Sanders" to ask him some urgent questions: namely, that if he dies, can his staff pull a Weekend at Bernie's to finish off his term.

"Would you be comfortable with let’s say a Weekend At Bernie’s situation to get us through the rest of the administration?" Wilmore said, giving Sanders a pair of sunglasses. "Could you just put these sunglasses on, in case we have to do that Weekend At Bernie's thing?"

Sanders, who has fantastic comic timing, played along with the bit, putting on sunglasses. When asked if he thinks America is ready for a socialist president, Sanders didn't miss a beat.

"I do. I think once we understand what democratic socialism means." Sanders said. "[And] what it means is learning from countries like Denmark , Sweden, and Finland, free healthcare for all of their people, free college for all of their people."

In an effort to get black voters to "feel the Bern," Wilmore suggested Bernie tell them that his campaign is "on fleek" which Sanders adorably mispronounced as "unfleek." Watch the clip below for more shenanigans:
