Larry Wilmore Attacks GOP's Smear Of Planned Parenthood
Larry Wilmore turned his attention Tuesday night to the manufactured, yet still very popular, controversy over Planned Parenthood supposedly "selling" fetal tissue to a third party on video tape.
"Well, someone has to be lying," The Nightly Show host said. "The [anti-abortion group] says Planned Parenthood sells tissue and Planned Parenthood says they don't." After a series of clips of Planned Parenthood thoroughly debunking the myth, Wilmore concluded. "I think I know who."
Planned Parenthood was quick to point out they were simply being reimbursed for cost and that politicians from both sides of the aisle have repeatedly voted to support using fetal tissue in medical research. Research that works to cure everything from Alzheimer's to H.I.V.
"Context really does matter for these Planned Parenthood videos." Wilmore insisted. "[Fox News] is reacting emotionally to the video but they're missing the point... I'm calling this video exactly what it is: a pap smear campaign."
