WATCH: Obama Calls Marriage Equality Victor Jim Obergefell Live on CNN

Today's landmark Supreme Court ruling legalizing same-sex marriage in all fifty states was a sweet, if not long overdue, victory for millions of LGBT and their allies. None more so than Jim Obergefell, the man who filed the suit decided on today who's been struggling since 2013 to have his marriage to John Arthur - since deceased - recognized by the state of Ohio.

“I promised John that I’d see this through to the end, and there’s no other place in the world I can imagine being than here, in that courtroom, to hear the decision from the justice’s mouth,” Obergefell recently told Buzzfeed. So, after the court ruling this morning, when he received a call from President Obama on the courtroom steps to congratulate him, a truly wonderful moment played out on live TV.

Jim had indeed seen it through to the end, and there to greet him when he did was a cheering crowd of supporters, one of whom was the President of the United States. You can watch the video below.
