Neil Young Tells Donald Trump to Stop Using His Song, Endorses Bernie Sanders

Folk singer Neil Young is taking issue with GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump using his song “Rockin' in the Free World” at his campaign kickoff.

Young's manager told Mother Jones that the use of the song was “not authorized” and that Young actually endorses Bernie Sanders, saying he's a “longtime supporter” of the independent Vermont senator.

Like Ronald Reagan's use of Bruce Springsteen's “Born in the USA,” Trump's use Young's song while promoting a right-wing agenda is ironic. “Rockin' in the Free World” was more aptly used to criticize the George H.W. Bush administration and economic deprivation.
