Star of 'Drunk Girl in Public' Viral Video Says She Was Tricked Into Participating
A few weeks ago, a video started making the rounds of a woman pretending to be sloppy drunk in public, while sleazy guy after sleazy attempted to pick her up. On the heels of the Hollaback street harassment video, the “drunk girl in public” video quickly went viral, with the men in it being painted as potential rapists and sexual predators.
It turns out the whole thing was a hoax, and almost everyone involved an unwitting victim of the producers. Last week, some of the “shady men” featured in the video, angry at having been duped, described being lied to by filmmakers who told them they’d be taking part in an elaborate comedy skit. Now, the “drunk girl” from the video—her name is Jennifer Box—has also released a video statement verifying the men’s story and claiming that she, too, was fooled into participating.
Says Box in the video: "I was hired as an actress to portray a drunk girl in what was described to me as a lighthearted prank show. Had I known the damaging outcome of this video, I never would have participated. And for the record, every male seen in this video were nothing but perfect gentleman."
The original video has, mysteriously, disappeared since the hoax was revealed. To see Box’s statement, watch the video below:
