Watch: Russell Brand's Hilarious and Compassionate Reaction to Media Hype Over Renee Zellweger's Face

Russell Brand nailed the absurd over-reaction to Renee Zellweger's appearance that flared up when the actress appeared in public recently looking, well, different.


"There have only been 69,000 articles about it," Brand said in the segment, adding that perhaps his piece would uncover something that the 69,000 other pieces had missed.

And in a way, it did. Brand skewered the breathless celebrity media, which sputtered things like: "Renee Zellweger looks completely different."

"No she doesn't," the comedian retorted. "It's not like her head has been replaced by a marshmallow."

The piece manages to be hilarious and incredibly compassionate at the same time. Compassionate to Zellweger, that is, not the idiotic talking heads endlessly commenting cruelly on an actress' appearance as she dares to get older.
