Right-Wing Talkers: Obama Using Benghazi to Distract from Benghazi!

You must have seen this one coming:

Evidently, you can't win with the Tea Party. Every political step the Obama Administration takes sparks a new conspiracy theory. This time, Allen West implies that the capture of Abu Ahmed Khatalla by U.S. Special Operations forces was coordinated as a "wag the dog" distraction from the reasons behind the Benghazi attack.

West, the former Congressman, has served as a Fox News political contributor since he lost his reelection bid in 2012. He has also worked for conservative blogging site Pajamas Media.
But West isn't alone with his latest Benghazi conspiracy theory. On Fox News, the capture was downplayed by news commentators who also suggested that it was a distraction. Kennedy (the former MTV host) and commentator Peter Hegseth both implied that the Hard Choices book tour and the capture were coordinated to help Hillary Clinton with her presidential run.
“You have a former Secretary of State who is in the middle of a high profile book tour. I think this is convenient for her to shift the talking points to some of the things she has been discussing,” said Kennedy.
In response to Kennedy, Hegseth said, "This thing needs to be tied in a bow for certain individuals to have a clean break from an incident that have become and will continue to be a scandal and an anchor around a certain individuals neck who may want to run for president."
Fox anchor Jon Scott joined in, questioning the timing saying that the U.S. could have captured the terrorist suspect at any time, but waited. This view was echoed by former congressman and talking head Joe Scarborough on today's episode of his MSNBC show Morning Joe.
Not to be outdone, the king of Obama bashers, Rush Limbaugh, suggests that Obama was trotting out Khatalla to confess that the Benghazi attacks were, in fact, carried out in response to an anti-Muslim video. In effect, Obama was using Benghazi terrorists to vindicate the administration's response to the embassy attack. Said Limbaugh on his show:
[A]nybody want to bet me that this Benghazi suspect, at some point — they’ve captured the militia leader, leader of the Benghazi attack — anybody want to bet me that sometime this week he will admit that the Internet video is what made him so mad that he rounded up his buddies and began the assault on the consulate? I am just going to tell you, I’m not going to predict that, but I want to go on record here on June the 17th making it very clear that, if that does happen, I, for one, will not be surprised in the least. It would fit perfectly, ’cause — grab sound bite 21. Let me upset the apple cart.

Benghazi has been used to politically bludgeon both Obama and Clinton, who served as Secretary of State when the attack took place. Soon after the attack, Sen. Rand Paul implied that Clinton's handling of it  “should preclude Hillary Clinton from ever holding high office again.”
