Absurdity Today: Court Lets Internet Service Providers Mess With Your 'Cute Kitten' Videos
Absurity Today hostess and political satirist Julianna Forlano says that the United States Court of Appeals ruling in the Verizon v. FCC case will allow Internet Service Service Providers to make a general nuisance of themselves, slowing down access to independent and rival content sources.Â
Now that Net Neutrality has been neutralized, Forlano says that Internet service providers now "have the power to do what Chris Christie did to New Jersey; block traffic, choke off access, and generally [bleep] er, toy with everyday people."
At issue in the case is the concept of net neutrality, or that all information on the Web should be equally privileged. The FCC had previously established a set of rules on net neutrality, which the court struck down. The FCC is considering appealing to the Supreme Court.Â
