Michele Bachmann: We Are in God’s End Times

One of the looniest members of the Republican Party believes the president is in bed with Al Qaeda. As the website Right Wing Watch documented, Representative Michele Bachmann told a radio host over the weekend that Obama is helping Al Qaeda in Syria and that the end times are near.

“President Obama waived a ban on arming terrorists in order to allow weapons to go to the Syrian opposition,” Bachmann told host Jan Markell. While it’s true the Obama administration is arming and training the Syrian opposition, they are focused on building up the most moderate part of the rebels. The U.S. has blacklisted Jabhat al-Nusra, the Syrian group that has sworn allegiance to Al Qaeda.

Bachmann added: “Your listeners, US taxpayers, are now paying to give arms to terrorists including Al Qaeda.” As a result, Bachmann said, “the United States is willingly, knowingly, intentionally sending arms to terrorists, now what this says to me, I’m a believer in Jesus Christ, as I look at the End Times scripture, this says to me that the leaf is on the fig tree and we are to understand the signs of the times, which is your ministry, we are to understand where we are in God’s end times history.”

The Minnesota Republican also expressed concern over the building of mosques, saying that the many mosques are “advancing the goals and beliefs of the violent Muslim Brotherhood and that should give us pause.” She also said that “we should be hitting the pause button on immigration and on refugee resettlement.”
