Can We Count on You to Help AlterNet Operate at Full Strength?
We at AlterNet have launched our annual post-Labor Day Fall fundraising campaign.
No muss, no fuss! We need to raise $40k in the next two weeks to meet our 2013 budget so that we can operate at full strength.
This fundraising is for the basics: paying writers, salaries for staff, travel to pursue stories, rent, internet servers, web site coding and maintenance, etc. No frills here.
Can you help?
Supporting writers is especially crucial. We want you to have access to the best ideas and analysis -- the strongest, clearest voices. Many AlterNet writers are your favorites. We will continue to bring them to you. But we practice reader-supported journalism and we depend on you to help get the job done.
We are blessed by having thousands of loyal readers who invest in our work. Many of you are with us year after year. Some of you come back after a hiatus. And we always need new supporters. It is like the life cycle. Every one of you is important to us. If you don't need to read more and want to support us with a 100% tax-deductible contribution, click here.
We are not going to scare you, worry you, or have you fear for our existence. We are here for the duration, as we have been for the last 14 years. We are steady, solid, professional and dependable --offering you 150 articles or more a week; 24/7; 365 days a year.
We are also motivated, determined…and damned angry at the state of politics in the U.S. I know you are, too.
We care most about inequality, human rights, peace, protection from spying, and climate change. Of course, that means fighting corporate dominance, privatization, militarization and the corruption of our democracy. These are the basics. Most everything you -- and we -- care about.
We are all long-distance runners in the battle for change. It would be great if it wasn't true, but we know change isn't around the corner. Hopefully, like us, you are in for the long haul.
So, there is tremendous work to do. And we have to raise the dough. Can we count on you?
Peace -- from Don Hazen and the whole AlterNet team
