GOP Congressman: Dick Cheney Will Rot in Hell For Iraq War

Rep. Walter Jones (R-NC) said on Saturday that former vice president Dick Cheney will “rot in hell” for the Iraq War.

“Congress will not hold anyone to blame,” Jones said to an audience of young libertarians in Raleigh. “Lyndon Johnson’s probably rotting in hell right now because of the Vietnam War, and he probably needs to move over for Dick Cheney.”

The audience, composed of members of the pro-Ron Paul group Young Americans for Liberty, applauded the prospect of Cheney burning in fire and brimstone. Jones also received an ovation when he brought up his efforts to prosecute President Bush for lying to the American people.

Congressman Jones voted for the war in 2003, and made headlines when he introduced a bill that would’ve swapped “French fries” for the more war-friendly “Freedom fries.” He’s since reversed his position, and has also come out against the Afghanistan war and Obama’s drone program.
