The DREAM Act campaign fights for peace of mind and a future for many young immigrant kids--and President Obama's executive order helps those kids live lives out in the open.

But what about their moms? In a new short film, "The Call," Breakthrough (one of our six activist groups to watch) dramatizes what moms who may have undocumented family members must go through when something frightening happens to their kids.

Picture weighing your options: getting your daughter who's been attacked to a hospital or the potential breakup of your family. Or as the folks behind "The Call" write:

Imagine dropping your child off at school every day afraid that you won't be back at pickup time. Imagine staying with a violent partner because calling the cops could tear you away from your kids. Imagine arranging for a neighbor to take care of your children in case your disappear — which could happen any time.

Tough to imagine? This is reality for millions of immigrant women in the United States.

Getting support for undocumented and immigrant women in the US in the face of a hostile political climate is one of the toughest battles activists face, but stories like this one humanize those of our neighbors who are on society's margins, but who are really just like us--only facing impossible decisions every day.
