Ted Kennedy's Widow to Sit With Michelle Obama at Tonight's Big Speech
When President Obama addresses Congress and the American people tonight on the topic of health-care reform, Vicki Kennedy, a powerful, living symbol of that promise, will join the First Lady Michelle Obama in the first family's box. While some have wondered why Obama began his administration trying to tackle health care -- a problem that has bedeviled presidents since the first President Roosevelt held office -- so early in his administration, it's been reported that Obama told his aides, "I promised Teddy." (Kennedy, that is.)
In addition to Senator Kennedy's widow, the First Lady will share her box with several everyday Americans who have been through, or continue to go through, health-care hell. The White House has begun to post videos of their stories on the White House blog. Below, I've posted one of them -- and below that, the list of the First Lady's guests, and synopses of their stories from a White House press release.
