Glenn Beck Shuts Down Comments on 912 Site
When I visited the Web site of Glenn Beck's 912 Project site, I found this message, dated yesterday, with no time stamp:

From your 912 Editor – All commenting software on the site has been disabled for the time being. Please do not read into this any bizarre conspiracy theories. Nothing could be further from the truth. People CAN still communicate with us and other 912-ers, just in a different manner. And in the end, the result will be more efficient communication in a troll-free environment, without some of the pointless rantings to wade through.

Dear 9-12ers,
The time has come for us to focus on September 12th.
Read the Mission Statement.  Get off the keyboards and on your feet.
That does not mean we have stopped listening or that we do not want to hear from you. On the contrary – WE NEED TO HEAR ABOUT WHAT YOU ARE ACTUALLY DOING. We encourage you to send us emails about your local activities.
Obviously we will share any important information on the site as soon as possible.
The 912 Editor
It would be interesting to know what time the editors made this decision; could it have been after reports began to circulate that yesterday's houliganism at the Tampa health care town hall addressed by Rep. Kathy Castor, D-Fla., was, according to some of the right-wing protesters, inspired by Beck and his 912 Project. From today's St. Petersberg Times:
[H]undreds of vocal critics turned out, many of them saying they had been spurred on through the Tampa 912 activist group promoted by conservative radio and television personality Glenn Beck. Others had received e-mails from the Hillsborough Republican Party that urged people to speak out against the plan and offered talking points.
The 912 Project is a right-wing organizing effort marshaled by Beck. The opening headline of the "Stand Up and Lead" section of the 912 Project Web site reads: We Surround Them.
