Stop the War on Drugs

Apparently, the economy isn't doing so hot. During the campaign, McCain suggested he would suspend all government spending (on everything but the military, of course). While a complete spending freeze is ludicrous, it is obvious that Obama will have to slash some failed programs. He might as well start with the biggest failure of them all: the so-called War on Drugs. According to a recent report by the centrist Brookings Institution, "Current U.S. counter-narcotics policies are failing by most objective standards." This has been the case since at least the 1980s. President Obama should stop locking up pot smokers and focus on our real problems.
