Obama Needs to Listen to the People
November 28, 2008
The Obama administration should promote a national network of democratic participatory structures. This will be an essential condition for formulating, passing, and implementing progressive policy measures, not just during Obama’s presidency but for the indefinite future. Obama should draw advice and insights from at least as wide a range of persons and perspectives as he did during his earlier career. Within his first 100 days, there should be a national conference and hundreds of local conferences. With capitalism and the environment in crisis, radical alternatives in all policy areas need to be the focus of public discussion.
