Post-Debate Thoughts from the Converted

I loved the format. I think that Obama did a fine job, ceded no ground, got a few jabs in, and was by no means risky or dangerous and did not have any gaffes. I felt he came across as sincere, earnest, and safe.

McCain looked cranky and old, regurgitated talking points, and seemed to cycle between grumpy and phony. The name dropping may impress some people, but I was not impressed.

On substance, McCain is just wrong about a number of things. He is wrong about Kissinger and the other Secretaries of State. He is wrong about tactics and strategy- it is he who does not understand the difference, which is really quite embarrasing, given his years in the military. he may have thought saying “You don’t understand” would make him seem knowledgeable and more ready, it just made him look like an asshole.
