So long suckers, I'm off to the fake news biz
Last year USA Today revealed that conservative columnist, TV host, and owner of his own PR firm, Armstrong Williams was paid $240,000 by the Bush Administration to push its No Child Left Behind program to the black community.
How much will he have to return? Just $34,000, the poor thing.
He keeps 86% if you're keeping tabs. The LA Times' wire report doesn't go into much detail, mentioning only that "Williams admits no wrongdoing but will have to repay $34,000 that prosecutors determined he was overpaid under his $240,000 contract."
He was overpaid by $206,000? That mean he wasn't quite enthusiastic enough in his propagandizing for Bush's failed, and now little mentioned, program?
With baby slaps on the wrist like this, it's no wonder that corporations and the government, and most of all, the people at the helm of each, continue to distribute fake news. It pays. And if you get caught, hey, you give back 14%.
Not bad... fax me an application.
