Lamont interviewed on This Week
August 06, 2006
With only two days to go until the pivotal Connecticut Democratic primary, Ned Lamont appeared on This Week with George Stephanopoulos to "hammer home" some final points.
"Don't tell me Iraq is just a single issue. Tell that to the Silver Star and Gold Star moms of kids who have died over there, or kids who are serving over there. Don't tell them it's a single issue….
Ned Lamont is a guy that thinks George Bush is taking this country in the wrong direction, and I believe it's time for the Democrats to offer a clear and positive alternative to the Bush agenda. And, yeah, it's a lot more then the war in Iraq, but the war is a defining issue. It says a lot about what type of country we are, what are fiscal priorities are….
I am a liberal and I'm a progressive. I see health care as a problem and I think it's time to solve it. I see that we have an energy dependence that's increasing. I see an energy bill that was, I thought was, a sell out to an awful lot of corporate interests. And frankly, I see a foreign policy that I think is in shambles - making our country less safe, destabilizing the Middle East, doing nothing for Israel's security, wasting an awful lot of money and lives over there that we ought to be investing in this country."Lamont makes these points and many more in this video interview.
