Jeff Gannons for Lieberman
In an editorial called Why I Would Vote For Joe Lieberman, Doug Patton a "senior writer" for GOPUSA (the former employers of Jeff Gannon presstitute) puts another nail in the Lieberman coffin.
The columnist gets it exactly, 100% wrong. By 100% wrong I mean that it's sort of a thing of beauty:
Of course, had the primary been held two days after rather than two days before the foiling of the plot to blow up ten American airliners over the Atlantic, there might have been a very different result. Lieberman's position on the war must look much more reasonable in the light of that chilling scheme, even to liberals.Er, Doug, connecting the war and terrorism is exactly why Lieberman's out... Not to mention support for Bush/Cheney who have known about the threat of liquid bombs for years but have been too busy with Iraq to do anything about it.
His column begins with the common myth that Winston Churchill once said that if you aren't a liberal at 20 you have no heart and if you aren't a conservative at 40 you have no brain. There is no record of him saying anything of the sort.
In fact, Churchill scholar Paul Addison wrote: "Surely Churchill can't have used the words attributed to him. He'd been a Conservative at 15 and a Liberal at 35!"
Tell you one thing the GOPUSA writer got right: "Of course, Lieberman can no longer be called a Democrat." [VIDEO of Dean telling Lieberman to drop out].
