Iraqi government condones gay murder

Ampersand calls attention to yet another tragedy within the Iraqi occupation/civil war: Gay Iraqis are being murdered by insurgents with the official sanction of the Iraqi government.

Amazingly, Iraqi law permits the killing of homosexuals. Section 111 of the constitution spells out the rules for killing those who have committed "crimes against Islam", including homosexuality.

Are these the "birth pangs" of a free and democratic Iraq? Mass murder on the streets and a government that endorses hate killings?
