Gore movie going gangbusters
"An Inconvenient Truth" has become at least the 5th highest grossing documentary in history, poised to pass Madonna's Truth or Dare, earning $13.8 million in its first six weeks. and is being seen and loved in red states. (Michael Moore is #1 with "Fahrenheit 9/11" which grossed $119 million and #2 with "Bowling for Columbine" ($21 million).)
Political/cultural reporter Joe Garofoli has the whole scoop in Saturday's San Francisco Chronicle where he writes that the global warming warning film is playing in 185 markets, is in 562 theatres, and is pulling great exit polls in places like Plano, Texas, and Orange County, California. Garofoli talks with Davis Guggenheim, the film's director as well, and learns a lot about the ingredients of the film's success.
