The TYPO of the beast

Today is June 6, 2006... 6/6/6. For traditionalists who still observe 666 as the beast's day, have at this BBC story with quotable quotes like:

Crabtree dissociates the Church of Satan from the Temple of Set and the First Church of Satan, saying it is the only Satanist group that is "sane and worthwhile".
"I plan to take Lillee, my High Priestess, to the opening of The Omen movie," says the self-styled Dark Pope. "Then it's out for dinner."
Or, from an early PEEK post, get the capital "T" truth:

"[I]t appears bible-thumpers have had it wrong for centuries when it comes to who to be on the lookout for, come the End Times! You thought the number '666' was scary? Well, wait until you hear about... 6-1-6 (shiver!)," writes Sui Generis.

According to the Independent:
Last year brought a rather disappointing revelation (ahem) for theological scholars, telly evangelists and death metal bands. A newly discovered scrap of the oldest surviving copy of the New Testament seemed to suggest that when it came to the mark of the beast, they had the wrong number. In fact it was the rather less ominous 616.
Sui Generis continues: "All those people who were walking around with the number 616 instead of 666 tattooed on their forehead and getting an easy ride... are now no longer off the hook!" Satanic High Priest Peter Gilmore remarked that: "By using 666 we're using something that the Christians fear. Mind you, if they do switch to 616 being the number of the beast then we'll start using that." (sui generis)
