Bush stands by his Rove

News & Politics

Last night Jon Stewart asked RNC Chairman Ken Mehlman: "Karl Rove... why do you think he wasn't indicted?" The crowd cheered. It's something of a rhetorical question.

Tim Grieve notes that Bush was reminded yesterday, in the context of Rove's role in blowing the cover of an American secret agent, whether he was living up to his promise to do "not only what is legal, but what is right."

Needless to say, he didn't expound on the matter, opting instead for the standard "moving forward" line and this vote of confidence: "I trust Karl Rove."

Phew, the president trusts him. (WarRoom)
