Clueless wimps

Apparently, Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) insulted Some Republicans by issuing a press release highlighting their kleptocratic ways.
How whipped are the Dems? Yesterday, when the GOPers raised a hub-bub, Reid … apologized. "Sorry, boys, didn't want to ruffle any feathers."
So now we'll be treated to a news cycle or two focused on how nasty the Dems are, not on the fact that the GOP is led by a bunch of gangsters.
My colleague Paul Waldman at the Gadflyer nails it:
Today brings us yet another iteration in the old story: Democrats get tough with Republicans. Republicans whine. At this point, no one is paying attention. Democrats say, oh no, someone is saying we're being mean! Democrats apologize. Media trumpets apology. Democrats look like wimps, yet again. […]
This is not rocket science: DON'T APOLOGIZE. Don't, don't, don't, for pete's sake don't apologize. How many different ways can I say it? DON'T APOLOGIZE.
Because when you apologize, the story becomes that you've gone too far and wound up on your knees begging for forgiveness… This is why Republicans NEVER apologize for anything. Because they understand how this game is played.Seriously, don't you sometimes get the feeling the Dems are trying to lose?
