DeLay goes free!

News & Politics

The person to my left at the café explained to a friend that Tom DeLay got off. The charges were dropped. They knew because they read it in a Fox News alert that popped into their inbox.

Except, it turns out to be a bit more like Stalin being absolved of tax evasion charges. Okay, that's a bit extreme. How about Gotti's charges of shoplifting being dropped? Or Jeffrey Dahmer getting out of a DUI... This is fun, you should try it.

In any case, it turns out that Brad had the same experience:

"As former U.S. House Majority Leader Tom DeLay received troubling legal news today in Texas where he's been indicted on several charges related to money-laundering campaign contributions for Republican candidates, Fox 'News' did their best to buck up the spirits of 'The Hammer.'"
"The judge in the case rejected DeLay's motion to drop all charges, though he did toss out one charge for 'conspiracy' which hadn't yet been against the law in Texas at the time DeLay allegedly conspired. The decision now paves the way for the criminal trial to begin and for DeLay to be permanently replaced in his House leadership position."

But we hope you "Fair and Balanced" zombies out there will note how it was reported via several different Email Alerts today... Go [HERE] to read them. Should do the trick.

Fortunately, it doesn't seem to be sticking as DeLay's numbers are in the shitter. He loses to an anonymous Democrat, has a disapproval percentage up over 50% and most people think the charges are probably true. (BradBlog)
