Tired of fighting for Roe?

Oh dear. Via Rox Populi this morning, I'm reading about how the Ward Report's Don is so tired of fighting for Roe. Poor guy:

I'm just tired of being burdened with defending Roe often to the detriment of so many important things that we who are centrist and to the left of center need to be advocating.

He goes on to argue that we should just let the right-wingers have this one, because they'll be sorry when loads of teenage girls in suburbia are showing up to school and church pregnant.

No, really, this is what he's saying. And there's more:
Just think of the political fall-out to the GOP if they orchestrate an overturn of Roe and the windfall to the Democrats.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and guess that this guy is probably a comfortably-living white guy with not too much to worry about in the whole pregnancy department. Because frankly, I find any argument like this obscene.

It smacks of privilege and racism, similar to those lefties last year who were hoping that Bush got re-elected to keep up the energy and cohesion on the Left. These people, like our tired friend here, seemed to be forgetting the tremendous amount of suffering and death our country has to endure because of it. And this guy is just too willing sacrifice the lives and livelihoods of millions of women. Forget that part, Don? Millions. Of. Women.

As long as civil rights that directly affect women's bodies continue to be pushed in and out of corners when it's convenient for the privileged men who are gripping the dialog, I agree with Roxanne: this is one of the many reasons why I have a real hard time trusting the Democrats.
