White House propaganda crimes

News & Politics

We know what happens when you break the law. What happens when the Bush administration's own Government Accountability Office determines that his administration broke the law?

"Last week an official government investigation determined that the Bush Administration broke the law when it used taxpayer dollars to disseminate 'covert propaganda' in advance of the 2004 elections," writes Tim Karr.

The GAO investigation found that in addition to Armstrong Williams (the columnist/talkradio host paid to praise Bush's education policies) and the phony Video News Releases, a new case emerged wherein the White House paid for an article praising its own science education policies.

In the non-bizzaro world of your everyday life, you know that it's not okay to use taxpayer dollars to produce promotional materials for the sitting president and his policies.

The administration, its popularity still in the shitter, may yet just learn about cause and effect. The good folks at Free Press are running a campaign to hold the administration accountable. Join it [HERE] if you have a sec. (MediaCitizen)
