Million More (several less)
In a deeply personal and affecting post, Terrance describes the prevention of a gay speaker from speaking at this weekend's Million More March as another in a long series of disappointments for a man caught between two identities.
Keith Boykin of the National Black Justice Coalition had received the thumbs up from Farrakhan, one of the two organizers of the March.
Unfortunately, the other organizer, a cowardly Rev. Willie Wilson, whispered into the ear of a speech organizer that some administrative hoop hadn't been jumped through and that Boykin would not be allowed to speak. According to Boykin, "Wilson was smirking as he spoke to the woman."
The saddest part of the whole affair is that Boykin's speech, rather than some fiery condemnation of Wilson or others by whom gay black men have been vilified, was a truly Christian extension of the olive branch. Too bad the "Reverend" Willie Wilson wasn't Christian enough -- or man enough -- to reach out and take it. (RepublicOfT)
