Madonna to receive divine punishment
October 10, 2005News & Politics
Apart from the comical cluelessness that leads anyone to conclude that there's money to be made trading on the names of prominent Kabbalah scholars, there's the possibility of the 2 Live Crew Effect.
Namely, that mediocre or terrible music (or films or books, for that matter) can fly off the shelves when people get wind that it's blasphemous, frightening, sickening or otherwise offensive in any way.
But really, think of all the Madonna fans that'll listen closely to the song, jot down the lyrics, research the fact that Isaac is the English name for Yitzhak Luria, study his esoteric writings on Jewish Mysticism and perhaps gain an interest and understanding in Jewish culture that otherwise wouldn't have. Think of the children. (ReligionNewsBlog)

Madonna's upcoming album, "Confessions on a Dance Floor," will, of course, contain a song dedicated to Yitzhak Luria, a major Kabbalah scholar from the 16th Century.
I mean, Dance Floor... Kabbalah... perfect, right? The Rabbis who "oversee" Luria's tomb don't think so. They're concerned that Madonna is trying to profit from his name:
"Jewish law forbids the use of the name of the holy rabbi for profit. Her act is just simply unacceptable and I can only sympathize for her because of the punishment that she is going to receive from the heavens..."If God truly is pissed at Madonna, I'd put my money on I'm Breathless, the Dick Tracy album, as the culprit.
