Rescuer may be arrested for taking bus

William S. Martin and Auguste are blogging about Jabbor Gibson, the 18-year-old who saved 100 strangers from rising waters in New Orleans by commandeering an abandoned bus and driving to the Astrodome.

William writes:
Rather than die on the streets of New Orleans, a young guy named Jabbor Gibson grabbed on an abandoned bus and drove 7 hours straight to Houston, rescuing complete strangers, including women and children, according to the Houston Chronicle.
"I dont care if I get blamed for it," Gibson said, "as long as I saved my people."

Steve Gilliard has more on this story at the NewsBlog.

Correction: Earlier I wrote that Mr. Gibson had already been arrested. I was mistaken. So far, the authorities are merely considering whether to lock him up.
