O'Reilly on Cindy Sheehan: Treason

O'Reilly couldn't handle the smear alone so he had to bring in ringer Michelle Malkin.

First O'Reilly went:

"I think Mrs. Sheehan bears some responsibility for this [publicity] and also for the responsibility for the other American families who lost sons and daughters in Iraq who feel this kind of behavior borders on treasonous..."

A little while later Malkin took her shot at reading the mind of the dead Casey Sheehan:
"I can’t imagine that Casey Sheehan would approve of such behavior."

Think Progress has the audio and hits it right on the head: "Is smearing grieving mothers how the right-wing supports the troops?"

After the NY Times ran a story on Cindy Sheehan yesterday, the letters page was messy with responses--almost universally appalled at Bush's cowardice.

A quick note on the letters page. It's generally understood that the number of pro and con letters roughly represents the number of letters received by the Times for a given story. So if there are two letters in favor and two against a given subject, it can be inferred that letters were split evenly...

Back to Cindy Sheehan. Not only do the letters run 5 to 1 in her favor, but the one critical letter is written by rant radio host Martha Zoller. Really? You mean the Babes for Bush calendar's Miss July doesn't support Cindy Sheehan's effort? Shocking.

What this also seems to indicate is that there is no support for Bush here. The only support is coming from professionals who make their living sucking up and regurgitating the vacuous Bush talking points. Read this should you harbor doubts on that account.

Which brings us to a final note. The danger here. I wish to God I could find this George Washington quote (perhaps some clever reader can help?) where he essentially says that we jeopardize our security when we send our children to war unjustly because it discourages others from coming to our nation's defense in the future.

It comes as no surprise then that the US Army is requesting up to $1 billion for an ad contract?
