Bob Dole Schills for the Times

Guess it's going to be a bash-the-MSM kinda day, but reallly ... Am I the only one who thinks it's a little suspect for the New York Times to run a "Save Judy Miller" op-ed by Bob Dole? And titled "The Underprivileged Press," no less. Maybe I missed it, but in the interests of balance, has the Times run anything that suggests otherwise -- as in the point of view expressed by this newspaper editorial: "Until journalists do a better job of restoring their own credibility, we shouldn't be encouraging a feel-good, federal shield law." [Via Romenesko]

(Tristram Shandy does a fabulous job of pointing out just how odd it is for Bob "Watergate" Dole to be standing up for freedom of the press.)
