Dove's 'Real Beauty' brings out true colors

Last week, Richard Roeper (yes, of Ebert and Roeper fame) used his Chicago Sun-Times column to discuss the oppressive images of Dove's Real Beauty campaign -- normal sized women. Ms. Musings had a good load of stuff to say about the matter: "Putting aside the embracing of his own idiocy, when did it become acceptable again to be 'sexist'? He attempts to justify his stance in the next line -- 'well, yes, I'm a man' -- by implying that men are, by nature, sexist." Roeper responded this week, on the defense: "What I said is that I prefer to see more conventionally gorgeous women hawking beauty products." Right, because anything larger than a size 4 isn't conventionally gorgeous. (Ms. Musings)
