Why we fight (for a filibuster)

In a protracted battle over political abstractions you risk losing sight of just why the damn thing matters. How's this for motivation: losing the filibuster means judges like Janice Rogers Brown will be making decisions for America. Among her "moderate" views: "racially discriminatory speech in the workplace is protected by the First Amendment" and, on the New Deal: "1937…marks the triumph of our own socialist revolution." If Republicans propose judges like Brown when the filibuster exists, imagine who they'll propose if it's gone... (Think Progress)
