Gated communities are the fastest-growing form of housing in the US, according to anonymous LA-based arts collective "Heavy Trash." The group's latest effort is a series of bright orange viewing platforms designed to "call attention to the walls of gated communities and provide visual access to parts of the city that have been cut off from the public domain." Rather than promote safety, the group contends, gated communities ironically just degrade the meaning of community in America. (Heavy Trash via Boing Boing)
