Cartoonist Gary Trudeau joked last week that someone at Halliburton phoned Cheney. When the VP picked up the phone the raspy-voiced caller recited, "We know what you did last summer..." This week we learn that a controversial Halliburton subsidiary was granted a plumb defense contract. And, this weekend the administration sent Treasury Secretary Paul O'Neill out to reassure Americans that, despite what their depleted 401(k) statements say, everything is fine.
