Rockie Horoscope 108

If you know your ascendant, read it too.

GENERAL FORECAST: This is the quintessential Scorpio week, what with Mercury, Venus, the sun and, as of the 13th, the moon in the sign of regeneration and retribution. A poetic Mercury-Neptune square on 11/11, Veteran's Day, can raise the level of praise and prayer a notch above the steady stream of tributes we've been hearing. Romantic Venus squares fanciful Neptune on Tuesday, so you might have to rely on a white lie or your vivid imagination to get over the disturbance that can result from the challenging sun-Uranus square Monday night. (A square to Uranus is my earthquake indicator.) Wednesday's Scorpio new moon (10:40 p.m. PST) follows a rewarding (to whom?) trine between militaristic Mars and the Saturnian establishment. One cycle ends, another begins.

ARIES (March 20-April 19)

So much for playing fair and square. Once affectionate Venus crosses the border between judicious Libra and manipulative Scorpio on the 8th, the incentive to keep a partnership on an even keel can fade pretty fast. To maintain the relationship, one of you may be tempted to mislead the other. Gilding the lily might not qualify as fraud, but won't it sabotage a sincere effort to consider career choices more realistically or to conserve your dwindling resources? The prudent part of your plan is rewarded on the 14th.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20)

Set the button for "intense" and hope that no one pushes it. While your peaceable Venus ruler was in easy-going Libra, any adjustment you had to make was doable. But after Venus crosses over to Scorpio Thursday morning, your relationship with a co-worker, with service people, e.g., the water delivery guy, even with your health professional can undergo a sudden transformation. And, Freud aside, while not everything is sexual, when Venus is in Scorpio, it often seems that way. Don't let your imagination turn a physical attraction into a fairy tale romance.

GEMINI (May 21-June 20)

The basic Gemini "need to know" quotient goes up a notch while your Mercury ruler transits secretive Scorpio. However, when nebulous Neptune slips into the picture on Sunday, it'll be difficult to separate true from false. If you're involved in an artistic project, the ambiguity could be intriguing, but if all you want is the facts, you may have to go through an elaborate song-and-dance routine to get them. Happily, an infusion of desire, determination and sheer chutzpah from ardent Mars in Aquarius boosts your energy level.

CANCER (June 21-July 22)

Scorpio is a relatively easy interlude for Crabs. November is a good time to establish a closer connection with family and childhood friends, also to make the old homestead more attractive. Support from affectionate, appreciative Venus and communicative Mercury in a compatible water sign can disperse some of the pressure you may have been feeling. And after the 14th, the new moon in your house of romance and recreation initiates a new cycle of pleasure and creative fooling around. Fun times ahead?

LEO (July 23-August 22)

Who said, "Don't rock the boat?" The "go along to get along" rhythm of your life can suddenly change when your sun ruler squares erratic, enlightening Uranus in your Aquarius house of past, present and potential partners. After the 12th, things -- such as your attachment to a person -- may be different in ways you never imagined. And because red-hot Mars is also in Aquarius, the entire range of relationships that affect you, such as the one with your attorney, become infused with a passionate desire get to the heart of whatever matters most. Interesting, no?

VIRGO (August 23-September 22)

'Tis the season to fantasize about what will bring you the most pleasure this holiday season, both on the giving and receiving ends. This weekend, your discerning Mercury ruler is prepared to check out the limitless possibilities Neptune is bombarding you with, starting in the Aquarian electronics department. How deeply does "state of the art" resonate within you? Items that fall into the music and mysticism categories look very attractive, too. Order now, before Mercury leaves your money house and you become interested in other things.

LIBRA (September 23-October 22)

Sometimes you get in trouble when your Venus ruler and impressionable Neptune form a challenging square, when your vision of reality becomes clouded by relentless romanticism. While artists usually are eager to rise to the aesthetic challenge, friends and lovers tend to be disappointed if their daydreams do not materialize. This is only a warning. There's no concrete reason why you, too, can't use this opportunity to bring a more artistic, spiritual and loving vibe into your home, which is where idealistic Neptune has been residing.

SCORPIO (October 23-November 21)

This is one of those rare weeks when everything is going your way. Even the shocker waiting for you when the sun squares erratic Uranus can turn into a liberating, enlightening experience. Authors and students take note: with Mercury and Venus in your sign, that event is another topic you can write about with ease. By now, suspicious Scorpio is surely checking for signs of a suprise party. Grill the neighbor who's acting funny or telling tales to throw you off the trail. Intelligent advice from a clan elder if you ask nicely.

SAGITTARIUS (November 22-December 21)

A burst of Martian energy can break up an impasse you've reached with a co-worker and cut through the pall that may have settled over a partnership. If it's a matter of money, take the initiative and offer to pay; if ambient anxiety is holding the relationship in check, then a brainstorming session would provide fresh ideas, the novel approach needed before you can make significant progress. While Mars is in airborne Aquarius, all parties benefit from clear-sighted, future-oriented thinking. New equipment, too.

CAPRICORN (December 22-January 20)

Playful Goats are invigorated, both mentally and physically, when desire-driven Mars rewards your Saturn ruler in the middle of the week. You might also profit from a serious interest in fun and games or in toys for grown-up boys. A strong, sometimes overwhelming masculine vibe emanating from this pairing of planets can piss off other people vying for your time and attention. However, it'll be another 30 years before this supportive trine -- Mars in airy Aquarius, Saturn in airy Gemini -- repeats itself. How can you not go with the flow?

AQUARIUS (January 21-February 18)

Read for Capricorn. You, too, are about to benefit from the planetary action taking place now that energetic Mars is in your sign. When that's done, read the rest of the column searching for hints about what musical, mystical Neptune in Aquarius might be up to, what acts of faith the king of the sea is about to unleash. Then prepare yourself for another suprise when the Scorpio sun challenges inventive Uranus, also in your sign, to come up with something original and intrinsically your own. All eyes are on you.

PISCES (February 19-March 19)

Friendship and the search for the perfect blendship is the main focus of your action this week. Anything that reflects on your Neptune ruler, in your house of group involvement, can affect you. While there is a certain amount of subtlety in sexual advances, especially from literate and artsy types, the same can't be said for financial come-ons. Those scams will be hard to miss. However, a bright-eyed, bushy-tailed, well-informed buddy could do alot to alleviate a weighty or frustrating family situation.
