Rockie Horoscope 99

If you know your ascendant, read it too.

GENERAL FORECAST: Mercury moves into Libra on Friday for a long 67-day visit. On October 1, the Messenger turns retrograde at the last degree of Libra, goes direct at 14 Libra on October 22 and finally leaves the sign of harmony and balance for secretive Scorpio the day after Election Day. Remember the Mercury station on Election Day 2000 and the wrath it wrought? Further adventures in wishful thinking will carry you through Labor Day as romantic Venus opposes idealistic Neptune, the sun and enthusiastic Jupiter sextile, and you fall under the spell of the impressionable Pisces full moon, exact Sunday at 2:43 p.m. PDT. It'll be a wondrous and wistful or a weepy weekend if you're sensitive to every real or imagined slight. On September 4th, L.A.'s birthday, the sun tests powerful Pluto, then it squares restrictive Saturn on the 6th. Since a sexy Venus-Pluto trine is also in effect, welcome another rolling blackout with open arms.

ARIES (March 20-April 19)

Push could come to shove this week if you're financing a recreational interest, a creative project or the kids' back-to-school program. While the Virgo sun squares Saturn and Pluto, it's you who may be put to the test. Next month, when the Libra sun favorably aspects the same planets, you'll be rewarded for accepting the challenge of the difficult square. And so it goes. Mercury transiting Libra, your sign of partnerships, for the next two months means contract negotiations can go on at least that long.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20)

Daydreams getting to you? Go ahead and fulfill a favorite fantasy while your sensual Venus ruler consorts with imaginative Neptune this holiday weekend. When these two planets face off, there's no such thing as "over the top," and not enough make-up or make-believe to satisfy your romantic soul. It's an excellent time to be immersed in water or covered in paint. Your eye for beauty, sense of rhythm, compassion for the needy and willingness to suspend disbelief is pretty obvious. Watch out for a scam.

GEMINI (May 21-June 20)

The Pisces full moon might be the crown on top of the cross you are currently bearing. All the mutable signs -- you, Virgo, Sag and the Fish -- are under a lot of pressure this week, so be sure to take every available opportunity you can to relax. Whether it's your partner, your boss or a parent who's tightening the screws nailing you to that cross is not important. What matters is that you come through this full moon period with the knowledge that your survival skills are better than you thought.

CANCER (June 21-July 22)

Your week may feel like the see-saw you've been riding all summer. Which end is currently on top, the love affair or the friendship? Which is about to hit bottom? Where do you sit and how does a Moon Child maintain equilibrium during an emotional full moon? Because the Pisces moon-Virgo sun dichotomy can cut across your financial sectors, you could incur expenses you didn't count on. Or, if you were born in June, come down with a severe case of wanderlust. Escaping your dilemma?

LEO (July 23-August 22)

Magnetic Venus in Leo attracts an assortment of people to your scene: sailors, drunks and druggies, along with musicians and artists, over the weekend when Neptunian types are most susceptible to your charms. By midweek, as Venus trines Pluto, you're apt to find yourself in the company of spies and co-conspirators, maybe even a mortgage broker. Sex coupled with secrets of the powerful makes an unbeatable combination, and for Lions ruled by the sun, an excellent antidote to the dreamy dopiness of the Pisces full moon.

VIRGO (August 23-September 22)

Are you one of those mutable types who adjust to a difficult situation first and express their feelings after they've landed safely? Pull off a similar high-wire act during the Virgo sun-Pisces moon opposition and you might win a Best Actor award. The annual Pisces full moon is loony enough, but when Saturn and Pluto are involved, any situation -- a stifling job, another family obligation, even a birthday wish to accomplish something significant this year -- could become dangerous. Be careful.

LIBRA (September 23-October 22)

With so much going on this week, pick one area of your life -- e.g., a luxurious celebration or a secret affair -- and concentrate on that. While your lovable Venus ruler is in loving Leo, the stuff that dreams are made of might actually happen. But if not, you can cash in on something only you and another person know how to pull off. Call it artistry or deception, right now you're really good at it. Get used to having blabber-mouth Mercury in your sign, acting like a publicist, for the next two months.

SCORPIO (October 23-November 21)

A sympatico Pisces full moon favoring protective Jupiter in Cancer and both rewarding your Scorpio planets could turn this Labor Day weekend into one of the best in years. To fully enjoy the Grand Water Trine, ignore the financial pressures and partnership issues that can interrupt the holiday mood. Eventually you'll have to decide who has the power to generate change, you (Pluto) or a well-established (Saturn) partner. But since pleasure-loving Venus favors Pluto now, sensuality and sexual satisfaction should come first.

SAGITTARIUS (November 22-December 21)

Mutable signs such as yours are being squeezed by planetary forces beyond your control. This excuse won't wash when you're stopped by the cops this weekend because you are out of control. However, knowing that the tension generated will ease up as the full moon wanes could be the ounce of prevention that'll to keep you out of trouble. The ray of sunshine in this forecast is the favorable opportunity the Virgo sun provides when it sextiles your Jupiter ruler: a partner with money, taste and vision?

CAPRICORN (December 22-January 20)

You could let your concern for your kid or a lack of a thrilling lovelife, especially over a holiday weekend, depress you, but since help is coming from the earthy Virgo sun, why succumb? Wait, instead, to see how other people's resources can affect your own. Having generous Jupiter in your Cancer complement suggests that someone is here (or shortly will be) to protect and serve. His or her optimism can help you pass the test the Grand Mutable Cross may pull while the sun, moon and power-crazed Pluto challenge your Saturn ruler.

AQUARIUS (January 21-February 18)

Go for the gold, in this case, the popularity and sociability radiating from loving Venus in luxurious Leo. While the goddess is in your house of partners, the people you deal with can grease the wheels of every deal and make more intimate relationships pure pleasure. However, while Venus opposes imaginative Neptune in your sign this weekend, you're liable to overstep the bounds of good taste, e.g., overdress or overindulge in whatever Neptunian substance dissolves the borders between fantasy and reality.

PISCES (February 19-March 19)

Read for Gemini, Virgo and Sag so you get an idea what can happen when the Pisces full moon acerbates the effects the planets in mutable signs are having on them, and by reflection, i.e., the light of the moon, on you. You're likely to be more invested emotionally in the situations that come to a head this weekend, but you can also let those feelings go as soon as the moon moves on to Aries on Tuesday. On the brighter side, artistic and affectionate Venus reaches out to your Neptune ruler and that appeal can be irresistible.
