The Orphanage of Cast-Off Mascots

So where do all those mascots go after they've been used and abused by the insatiable media moguls? In a society fixated with new and improved it stands to reason that sooner or later each mascot would be cast aside like yesterday's mascot. These pages are filled with these "humanoid advertising emissaries in newspapers and magazines." Why not drop by and spend some quality time with Mr. Coffee Nerves, Plywood Pete or the ever-popular Bondex Betty. All of whom are available for adoption, by the way.

Writers & Artists Snacking at Work

It is well-known that creative types will often do just about anything to avoid doing what they are supposed to be doing (namely being creative) and one of their favorite things to do at such times is to snack. If you've ever wondered what these creative types might snack on while they are killing time, this site will answer that all-important question. Each snack is rated, of course, and there are at last count 155 reports, each listing "pertinent" details such as where the snack was bought, the price, description of the snack, first and last four ingredients etc. It is all very funny indeed, but you see what they've done. These creative types have simply found a new way to kill time in order to avoid what they should be doing (namely being creative!)

Address Directory: Politicians of the World

"With accessibility will come some measure at least." This very simple but quite amazing directory lists "the mailing addresses for every nation's leaders and provincial governors (almost). Phone, fax, e-mail" with Website addresses added where available. From Afghanistan to Zimbabwe. The listing for the US, for example, includes the address, phone, fax, email and WebPages for The White House, House Majority Leader, Governors and much more. Very impressive indeed.

Columbus Day Riot

We did not find very much background information about CDRiot, except to note that "most of the writers here at Columbus Day Riot are white guys from Minnesota." While they like to think of themselves as being open-minded, they do concede that "there's a whole world outside our doors that's got nothing to do with Jesse, lutefisk, or canned spam." Modesty aside, we found an interesting array of subjects covered, including Property Tax, the Senate's authorization of "nearly a billion dollars in aid to fight the rebels in Colombia" and a take on the misguided fear of a loss of privacy on the Internet when in fact "every action is logged by countless numbers of computers around the world and that is why it works."

A Master of his Craft: Eli Wallach

You might not know his name, but you've probably seen his face. He has appeared in dozens of films, including The Magnificent Seven (1960), How the West Was Won (1962), The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (1967), Cinderella Liberty (1973), Winter Kills (1979) and The Two Jakes (1990). This site covers his entire career, from his first public performance in 1930 at the age of 15 to his work with George C. Scott, Robert De Niro and Jack Nicholson ("The trouble with that movie is that you had to see Chinatown the day before you saw The Two Jakes").
