Bomb Iran? What's to Stop Bush?

By Ray McGovern, Consortium News. Posted June 20, 2008.

It's crazy, but it's coming soon. The armed forces are working out details. Impeachment may be the only way to stop it.

Unlike the attack on Iraq five years ago, to deal with Iran there need be no massing of troops. And, with the propaganda buildup already well under way, there need be little, if any, forewarning before shock and awe and pox -- in the form of air and missile attacks -- begin.

This time it will be largely the Air Force's show, punctuated by missile and air strikes by the Navy. Israeli-American agreement has now been reached at the highest level; the armed forces planners, plotters and pilots are working out the details.

Emerging from a 90-minute White House meeting with President George W. Bush on June 4, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said the two leaders were of one mind:

"We reached agreement on the need to take care of the Iranian threat. I left with a lot less question marks [than] I had entered with regarding the means, the timetable restrictions, and American resoluteness to deal with the problem. George Bush understands the severity of the Iranian threat and the need to vanquish it, and intends to act on that matter before the end of his term in the White House."

Does that sound like a man concerned that Bush is just bluff and bluster?

A member of Olmert's delegation noted that same day that the two countries had agreed to cooperate in case of an attack by Iran, and that "the meetings focused on 'operational matters' pertaining to the Iranian threat." So bring 'em on!

A show of hands please. How many believe Iran is about to attack the U.S. or Israel?

You say you missed Olmert's account of what Bush has undertaken to do? So did I. We are indebted to intrepid journalist Chris Hedges for including the quote in his article of June 8, "The Iran Trap."

We can perhaps be excused for missing Olmert's confident words about "Israel's best friend" that week. Your attention -- like mine -- may have been riveted on the June 5 release of the findings of the Senate Intelligence Committee regarding administration misrepresentations of pre-Iraq-war intelligence -- the so-called "Phase II" investigation (also known, irreverently, as the "Waiting-for-Godot Study").

Better late than never, I suppose.

Oversight?

Yet I found myself thinking: It took them five years, and that is what passes for oversight? Yes, the president and vice president and their courtiers lied us into war. And now a bipartisan report could assert that fact formally; and committee chair Jay Rockefeller could sum it up succinctly:

"In making the case for war, the administration repeatedly presented intelligence as fact when in reality it was unsubstantiated, contradicted, or even non-existent. As a result, the American people were led to believe that the threat from Iraq was much greater than actually existed."

But as I listened to Senator Rockefeller, I had this sinking feeling that in five or six years time, those of us still around will be listening to a very similar post mortem looking back on an even more disastrous attack on Iran.

My colleagues and I in Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity (VIPS) issued repeated warnings, before the invasion of Iraq, about the warping of intelligence. And our memoranda met considerable resonance in foreign media.

We could get no ink or airtime, however, in the Fawning Corporate Media (FCM) in the U.S. Nor can we now.

In a same-day critique of Colin Powell's unfortunate speech to the U.N. on Feb. 5, 2003, we warned the president to widen his circle of advisers "beyond those clearly bent on a war for which we see no compelling reason and from which we believe the unintended consequences are likely to be catastrophic."

It was a no-brainer for anyone who knew anything about intelligence, the Middle East, and the brown noses leading intelligence analysis at the CIA.

Former U.N. senior weapons inspector and former Marine major, Scott Ritter, and many others were saying the same thing. But none of us could get past the president's praetorian guard to drop a memo into his in-box, so to speak. Nor can we now.

The "Iranian Threat"

However much the same warnings are called for now with respect to Iran, there is even less prospect that any contrarians could puncture and break through what former White House spokesman Scott McClellan calls the president's "bubble."

By all indications, Vice President Dick Cheney and his huge staff continue to control the flow of information to the president.

But, you say, the president cannot be unaware of the far-reaching disaster an attack on Iran would bring?

Well, this is a president who admits he does not read newspapers, but rather depends on his staff to keep him informed. And the memos Cheney does brief to Bush pooh-pooh the dangers.

This time no one is saying we will be welcomed as liberators, since the planning does not include -- officially, at least -- any U.S. boots on the ground.

A virtual declaration of war with Iran.

The House of Representatives calls for a blockade of Iran?

"(3) demands that the President initiate an international effort to immediately and dramatically increase the economic, political, and diplomatic pressure on Iran to verifiably suspend its nuclear enrichment activities by, inter alia, prohibiting the export to Iran of all refined petroleum products; imposing stringent inspection requirements on all persons, vehicles, ships, planes, trains, and cargo entering or departing Iran; and prohibiting the international movement of all Iranian officials not involved in negotiating the suspension of Iran's nuclear program;"

The House of Representatives is being run by AIPAC and the Right Wing Fundamentalists.

All of this evidence has been before us for years and it has been ignored or stonewalled. We are paying a high price for it and fear is the primary factor. Whatever happened to patriotism and united we stand? Ask "its off the table" Pelosi and the feckless and incompetent Conyers. Where might we be if Dennis Kucinich was Speaker? He'll never be the President he should be by acclamation and the feckless Democrats will elevate a scumbag like Hoyer before he will ever be considered for the most important role in Congress. United we stand? Bullshit!

Israel to bomb Iran, not America...

...though Israel will of course bomb Iran using American military technology, American money (billions a year), and with the full backing of the American president and many members of the U.S. congress.

All informed people know that Israel has now become America's 51st state, so one could actually make the case that Israel bombing Iran is the same as America bombing Iran.

When Israel bombs Iran oil will immediately skyrocket, leading to very severe economic downturns in many countries (most especially in very oil-dependent places like America). The Middle East will become much more inflamed, and anti-Israel sentiment along with general anti-Semitism will increase dramatically in many parts of the world as well (anti-Semitism will probably even grow steadily in America). And expect even more horrible things to happen as a result of airstrikes targeting Iran. A truly ugly situation all around.

There is a near complete media blackout about this critically-important event, so please pass the info on through your various networks.

Here's a video of Kucinich beginning his presentation on the floor: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BDZ8seg4Nr4

Download C-SPAN's transcript to see the individual articles and justifications: http://www.c-span.org/pdf/bush_impeach.pdf

Kucinich's office sent an email this afternoon alerting people that the http://www.kucinich.us website was "suspiciously" crippled, a few hours after introducing the Articles of Impeachment. Until they can restore the website and implement additional security measures, you can find the full list and detailed Articles at http://www.democrats.com/files/amomentoftruth.pdf and http://chun.afterdowningstreet.org/amomentoftruth.pdf

Show your support for Kucinich's efforts at http://www.myinfo.kucinich.us

Email the U.S. House Representatives to send your support for Impeachment at http://www.democrats.com/35-articles-of-impeachment. If you live in the U.S., call your Representative, ask for them at the Capitol Switchboard: 1-800-965-4701 or 202-224-3121 and call John Conyers of the Judiciary Committee, Steny Hoyer and Nancy Pelosi and demand that they do their jobs. Ipeachm, ent is not a partisan ploy, it is a sworn duty!
IT IS NEVER TOO LATE TO HOLD THOSE CRIMINALS BUSH AND CHENEY ACCOUNTABLE AND TO PROTECT AND DEFEND THE CONSTITUTION!

If Bush, Cheney and other high-ranking officials are not brought to justice before the November 2008 election, they will never be held accountable for their crimes. They will have gotten away with murder.

Hidden agenda in Iraq/Iran preventative military action
Posted by: dobermanmacleod on Jun 20, 2008 3:32 AM
Current rating: 4    [1 = poor; 5 = excellent]
First you noticed it when we preventatively invaded Iraq: the rational for the invasion shifted. Now, Bush is rationalizing a preventative military attack on Iran citing their uranium enrichment program. I believe that Bush had a hidden agenda in Iraq, and has one now for Iran. Although I don't feel comfortable say what that is, I strongly recommend you watch the Google video "The Energy Non-Crisis" (it's been watched over 1.5 million times, and lasts about an hour). I don't lightly recommend a video-especially one of this length, but it will change view of reality (for starters it has a credible first hand account of an oil discovery off shore from Alaska that is bigger than any in North America that was promptly classified secret by the Bush administration).

Dangerous Months Ahead

The White House’s propaganda campaign laying the groundwork for military action against Iran dates back over six years—to Bush’s 2002 State of the Union address in which he designated Iran as a founding member of the “axis of evil.” Since then, this drumbeat has waxed and waned as other concerns—primarily the disastrous invasion and occupation of Iraq—have often commanded center stage. Now, with the Bush administration entering its final months in office, a renewed push and a shorter fuse are increasingly evident. My 3-minute online video entitled “Forewarned Is Forearmed: Bush On Iran” is available HERE. It offers a very brief but deeply troubling chronicle of the president’s public warmongering and demonization of Iran.

Such manipulation of public sentiment has been a key part of the White House’s entire Iraq war enterprise, so we should not be surprised to see it play a similar role in any military attack on Iran. For those interested in a psychological analysis of this warmongering, I have also recently completed an online video entitled “Resisting the Drums of War.” It examines how the Bush administration’s messaging targets five core concerns that often govern our lives--concerns about vulnerability, injustice, distrust, superiority, and helplessness. The video describes these warmongering appeals and offers suggestions for how to counter them. It’s available for viewing HERE.

Since before the war on Iraq, I have been marching in anti-war demonstration and saying that the only way to stop Bush is to impeach him. "

Save the Constitution, Save the World, Impeach Bush!

I believed it then and I believe it now. Talk about appeasement, the insane policy of the Congress trying to work with Bush, and giving him more funding to carry on his agenda as long as they can add a few dollars for the flood victim, is like giving Hitler money for building more concentration camps as long he helps pay for the relocation of people downwind disturbed by the smell. IMPEACH BUSH NOW, BEFORE HE KILLS AGAIN!

Good post, pfeifer999. I agree with you, grassroots involvement and activism is the only way to elicit real change. Unfortunately, we have a complicit Congress that apparently doesn't listen to the will of the people. Nonetheless, more work is needed to get them to listen, and more participation should be shown by the electorate to force Congress to heed what they hear.

to bomb Iran.

Read the War Powers Resolution, Aka Public Law 94-148

The War Powers Act requires that the president notify Congress within 48 hours of committing troops to military action and forbids troops from remaining for more than 60 days without an authorization of force or a declaration of war.

He can bomb the fuck out of Iran for up to 60 days without an authorization just by notifying Congress of his decision within 48 hours. The worst part is, it's all perfectly legal. The only way it could be stopped is by impeaching the SOB or by getting the SCOTUS to declare the law is unconstitutional ( yeah good luck with that).

He's The Decider, remember? He don't need no steeenking authorization.

Iran is not alone in the world, the yhave several treatys with India, China and Russia Iran has Russian made and commanded ship killer cruise missiles, which can take out a carrier..and we cant do a thing to defend against it!! Putin absolutely despises Bush, and would love to take him down. Russia has sold Iran modern submarines, which can also kill our ships...then there are the Chinese SAMs And this is without any disruption to the flow of oil. Iran can block the Straits of Hormuz, and use their supplied arms to keep it blocked....anc consider...most of the US tech support is in ...India!! as well as other necessary things to running the US...India could pull the plug and cause economic disruption. $35 a gallon gasoline anyone? when you can get it?? After your net stops working, and you cant get paid, and orders don't go through. Oh, and lets not forget..Russia not only has a pipe line into Iran, they can cut off most of Europe...heck the US even gets oil from Russia!! Oh, but our"leaders" don't think ahead. funny how we the people can see these things and they wont!! Typical CEO mentality...no one has ever told them NO!! and made it stick!! Impeach them now!! If a new administration were to take over in the United States, they would discover gigantic unheard of amounts of business/government corruption involving trillions of dollars. The Bush administration has a vested interest in not letting all this corruption becoming known to the public, so they will need to do everything possible to keep their regime in power. They probably would be OK with a McCain administration as long as someone like Mitt Romney were the VP. They could take care of McCain, and Romney would be the President, and everything could continue as it has in the past 8 years. Another option would be to trump up some incident with Iran into a full-scale war which they could probably get the United States people to buy if it were scary enough. Then we couldn't switch governments in the midst of a war. The next 12 months will be interesting from a fascist perspective.

Everyday this story comes back again, re-worded, re-investigated and documented anew, and just as frightening and disheartening. It is too obvious, blatant and too large a portion of common knowledge right now to ignore or escape any longer. Given half a chance, with his half a brain, W will either bomb Iran soon or get the Israelis to strike first. (That way the needless genocide is not "our fault" and we can go in, then, and "rescue" Israel). What a bunch of crap.

Being hysterical and throwing blame and making routine castigations won't help right now: impeachment proceedings against W and DICK are the only way to guarantee a way to put a stop to this impending madness.

We should all get our heads out of our well protected, comfortable, isolationist delusions of innocence, and make sure that our (sadly) elected representatives get behind Kucinich and prevent the worst possible atrocity of W's, that we have yet to see looming on our horizon. THAT you might call a real Patriot Act.

So out of 50 that would be 30 members.

No one should be surprised at this "next step" which has been on the agenda of the corporatocracy for a long time. They know that with the change of administration there is a distinct possibility that their goals in the Middle East will suffer a serious setback. Most importantly, people need to wake up to the fact that our government openly spurns the concerns of the American people, your wellbeing is not on their agenda, rather their concern is to feed the insatiable greed of their corporate masters and to facilitate the growth of their empire. Sure Al-Maliki has reassured the Iranians that American bases within Iraq will not be used to stage aggression against Iran, in truth there really no need to do so simply because we have plenty of other platforms within the area from which to do so. If there was ever a need for the American People to rise up and bring government to heel it is now!

Impeachment is useless. Why would the very people that staged the 9/11 attacks, murdered their own citizens and took over this country seven years ago, be worried about impeachment? If they allow themselves to be tried for their crimes, they would face execution. They will continue to fulfill their mission as stated publicly in the PNAC manifesto written BEFORE 9/11 and signed by -- among others -- Cheney himself. Read the document for yourself and you will see that their plan for an American military empire is proceeding on target. YOU might think the Iraq war is a mess and that it would be insane to bomb Iran, but they think it is great, and so do their oil and defense co-conspirators. If the American public was made aware of their execution of the 9/11 operation, it is possible --- possible --- that they could be removed from power and face trial. They would not be alone in the docket. Ask yourself why it is that NO ONE, including Ray McGovern brings up 9/11. The evidence, if you choose to examine it, is out there in plain view and readily available, and it is damning. Unless the American people face the reality of what has become of the country, we are freakin doomed. It doesn't look like we have what it takes anymore, so maybe this is it for the idea of democratic government in the U.S. Maybe we are, as a people, more comfortable with a warmongering empire intent on conquering the world while enslaving its own citizens in a vicious police state. Hey, as long as you are one of the beneficiaries of the empire, it might look good. If not, better sleep with one eye open. KBR/Halliburton is not building those FEMA "immigrant detention facilities" around the country to house illegal aliens, amigos. Google Beach Grove on YouTube for a good view of your near future. This is disaster capitalism at its finest, only this time the disaster is going to be on us.

It will involve all the big NATO allies: Canada, UK, France, Germany. Their airforces will be right there. Iran is surrounded by bases in Central Asia.

All we will get about it is the next morning when the president addresses the nation about the wave of attacks the night before. "My fellow Americans, I have chosen to act now to protect the world from this grave threat to global security. Iran, a terrorist-supporting nation, can not have a nuclear bomb. We tried through years of diplomatic talks to avoid last night's actions; they, unfortunately, failed. It is with great sadness I have had to put our brave men and women and their courageous allies back in harm's way. But make no mistake: I did this because I had carefully looked at the options before us, and decided this was better than having such an irresponsible regime with a nuclear weapon. Over the coming days we wil be joined by Israel in ensuring that Iran will never be able to return to the path of beligerance again. Thank you and God bless America. Have a good day."

For the past 6 or 7 years there has been talk of bombing Iran. No doubt the neocons would like to do it, but it has not yet happened. There is a reason it has not happened, and it has to do with oil.
Most of the Persian Gulf oil is carried by tanker ships which travel through the narrow Strait of Hormuz, one side of which is Iran. Iran possesses many anti-ship missiles which it has deployed in the hills overlooking the Strait of Hormuz. In the event of an attack on Iran, no shipping company would be willing to send an oil tanker through the strait, even with warship escorts, because of this threat. Iran doesn't even have to use these missiles; their mere presence guarantees that all gulf oil shipping will stop the moment military action against Iran takes place.
With little excess oil supply in the world today, an interruption of Persian Gulf oil (which supplies a significant percentage of world oil consumption) would send the price of oil from $130 a barrel today to at least $300 a barrel. Gasoline would shoot up to at least $8 a gallon. Yes, the economy would completely crash.
I do not believe that an attack on Iran will take place. It would be suicidal for the US to do so. However if anyone out there thinks that an attack really is imminent, they should put their money where their mouthes are and purchase oil futures. If that long-awaited attack does occur, they will make themselves a ton of money!

There is almost nothing save Impeachment that can save the world from this senseless pending conflagration that will spiral out of control and doom the world to wasteful ruinous unjustifiable War..

All those who voted for Kyl-Lieberman have potentially doomed humanity and the hopes of the 21st century for it to be less bloody than the 20th...

Impeachment and at least Impeachment Hearings which would put this discredited criminal administration hopefully finally on the defensive is the only course I can envision that may help save our nation from this ruinous willful arrogant act..

This attack will only ignite a large regional and eventually world conflict making America one of the world's most hated nations and amalgamating vast forces to see our downfall and the world's preeminent power...

Dastardly and Muttley's Folly
Posted by: penobscotdziekuje@yahoo.com on Jun 20, 2008 10:17 AM
Current rating: 5    [1 = poor; 5 = excellent]
President Bush and his sidekick Dick Cheney, just like those two villians, Dick Dastardly and Muttley in the old cartoon Wacky Races, always have a zany scheme to stop the other racers from winning a race.
But this time, they're not racing; rather they're hatching a plot to bomb Iran with its proxy in the Middle East, Israel.
First up is their idea of an alleged "threat." Just exactly what IS this "threat" they speak of? Do you really believe Iran's nuclear "program" is tantamount to secure the flow of oil from the region? Are you really buying what Dastardly and Muttley are saying?
Do we want to see Iran's population undergo what Iraqis have endured for so long? Do YOU have the stomach to see children buried under a pile of rubble in their beds while the Air Force drops its "smart" bombs from 35,000 feet? That's really dumb.
Next, an air assault (that's the way America fights) would result in a hit-or-miss type of scenario. We may unintentionally obliterate the wrong target, as we've witnessed in Iraq.
Third, as soon as the aerial assault begins, it could spectactularly blow up in our faces. The aggressive act by us could cause further instability and already drive up the fuel prices and stretch the military even thinner. And our chief weapon is the plane. I think these flyboys ought to see what their bombs do to human flesh.
War. It's what we Americans do best. And who's to say how long the conflict will rage. So it's no wonder other racers ("countries") avoid any contact with D&M. They're simply up to no good. Everything they do backfires and does nothing to promote peace.
We must prevent war with Iran from happening. We need to impeach this little dictator from Texas and put him in jail. The world will benefit from it.

1. Gas Price $10-15per gallon : even if Iran did not block the gulf or bomb the Saudi and Iraq Pipelines, the threat of them doing so is enough to double or triple the price
2. It does not matter whether we do it or Israel, we are seen as one in the muslim world.
3. Terrorism: you can not exclude the possibility of terrorism by Iran's backers in the Muslim world including Iraq and Lebanon.
4. World is economy today is dependent on oil, inflaming the persian gulf is the last thing we need.
5. Russia and china, with interest in Iran are watching
6. muslim countries will be watching, may possibly get involved: possibly Pakistan, Syria, Hamas

IMPEACH NOW !!

Current rating: 5    [1 = poor; 5 = excellent]
I am about to send the following to Congress, Pelosi and several letters to the editor. I hope everyone who reads this will send their own version.
==
Bush is dangerous to the world and to America.

-------- YOU MUST IMPEACH NOW -------

Emerging from a 90-minute White House meeting with President George W. Bush on June 4, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said the two leaders were of one mind:

"We reached agreement on the need to take care of the Iranian threat. I left with a lot less question marks [than] I had entered with regarding the means, the timetable restrictions, and American resoluteness to deal with the problem. George Bush understands the severity of the Iranian threat and the need to vanquish it, and intends to act on that matter before the end of his term in the White House."

------------

If you fail to take action and Bush decides to attack Iran, dragging us into a third war in only two terms in office, you and Congress will be responsible for those lost lives and the economic devastation to the US. We don't have the troops to police Iraq...how well is that going. Will you let Bush start yet another war we cannot win?

The American people will have no respect for any of you and your terms in office may be at an end, and justifiably so because of your cowardly stance against a rogue and bullying administration.

I no longer fear terrorism as much as I do my own government !!! I blame Bush and Congress for that.

If Congress fails to protect us, we have lost the very America our soldiers now and in the past have fought and died to protect.

I call on every member of Congress to unite and impeach Bush and Cheney before they drag us into yet another war we cannot afford. The damage to our reputation, or safety and our economy may never recover. A Congress impotent to protect us is a useless and gutless Congress.

Will you protect us or will you let every American down, bury your heads and whimper when Bush shakes his fist at you?

Who do you pledge your allegiance to: (1) Big Business? (2) George Bush? (3) The American People?

Your actions, or lack thereof will show us the true face of Congress. History will record that Congress, with forewarning in hand, and the resources to stop him, stood by and allowed the president to continue all-out war in the middle east. If this happens, this Congress will forever label itself a cowardly disgrace.

What is your response?

The Iranians are on record stating that if they are bombed, they will sink oil tankers in the strait of Hormuz, blocking any more tankers for quite a while, creating a oil shortage beyond imagination.Forget $10 gas, there will be rationing, the economy will stagnate, and Iran will have the upper hand.
Israel must be placed on notice that if it bombs Iran, it will forfeit all US foreign aid.

Hate to sound so rabied, but what everyone is forgetting in all this is that the Radical-Right Neo-Cons... the Bush-Cheney-DeLay-Frist-Helms-Lott-Hagee neo-Confederates allied with the Northeast Ivy League (and U. Chicago, Hoover Inst., AEI, Heritage Foundation, etc) Neo-Conservatives, have been TRASHING the world's NUCLEAR NON-PROLIFERATION TREATIES for almost 2 full decades now!

Remember, President Reagan was sainted and beloved SIGNING TREATIES - treaties that outlawed entire classes of nuclear weapons! - while ever since the heady days of Bush Sr. and the collapse of Soviet Union, the Neo-Con & Neo-Confederates have been working overtime to maximize the extortion potential of America's nuclear-fisted military advantage.

I'm not sure any of us can stop this coming disaster - the war lobby has $60 billion per year in US taxpayer funds FROM ISRAEL, ALONE, behind it - but I take satisfaction in knowing that a dozen or two dozen years from now, Pelosi, Hoyer, Reid, Feinstein, Lieberman, and all the other pro-war "Democrats" will be regarded as the blood-drenched war criminals they already are.
(Nancy _LOVES_ those "Bombs Bursting in air" over MidEast targets at American taxpayer expense - that's why "Impeachment is OFF THE TABLE!")

For more on the dismal alliance of two groups that would normally hate each other - the theocratic, intolerant American Right-Wing "Christ-ian" Neo-Confederats with the intellectual Neo-Cons (Wolfo, Perle, Feith, Libby, Sulzberger, Safire, Kristol, Krauthammer, Kurtz, Brooks, Friedman, Fineman, Podhoretz, etc., ad naseum) working on behalf of the most intolerant, theocratic leadership of the Jewish state, see that amazing dismal alliance laid out in
"Made in Texas: George W. Bush and the SSOUTHERN TAKEOVER of American Politics"
http://www.amazon.com/Made-Texas- Southern-Takeover-American/dp/0465041213

"Southern" as in "neo-Confederate - unaopologetic about slavery, much less segregation, much less disenfranchisement, torture, surveillance, police state powers at home, and financed wars abroad, etc.

Recall that to provide warm bodies for the slave trade, America's slave merchants had to fund wars (slave raids) overseas... and that, in defense of "polite society", Bounty Hunters and authorities always had unlimited police state and surveillance powers in the Deep South, including of course torture (whipping, hangings, rape, exposure) and terror, terrorizing slaves not to even THINK of running off.

Some things never change! The Civil Rights and Post-Vietnam eras were fun for a while, but now the reactionary, radical Right gets to flex its muscles, and put all the Vets "back on the farm" (as the post-WWI song had it) and all the other labor "back on plantation" under whip and gun of private overeseers and publicly financed "contractors."

All that is needed to bring back the Reactionary fantasy is another larger, more expensive, more out of control war!

This will go down in history as one of the most cruel administrations since Washington let loose the hounds on Indians. Let's face the facts. Our country has been taken over by warmongering assholes that count on the public being too bust trying to just live to be able to stop them. They've been getting away with it too. If bush and Co, pulls off this one,and we let them do it, them we as a people will have to bear the shame of being a race that values sending our children off to die for nothing less than the power of greed.
If we fall for this window dressing like we did Iraq then we are dumber than a sack of republicans. These people have proven themselves to be nothing more than common thugs...with fat wallets and a willing congress. For shame!!! We should have stopped Bush in 2000 when the election was stolen from us. If they wish to push ahead with this plan, then we should shutdown DC. Block all highway access, block the doors of grand central Station, block access to the capital and surround the whitehouse with buckets of tar and crates of feathers. Have we really become so afraid of these fools that we won't stand up to them? I think not. It just does'nt show up on the news. Why? Because the revolution won't be televised!!!!
It's time we hauled out the Declaration, reword some of it and kick these assholes out!!! Sure they may have the Media, the cops and the Military on their side but that's how the greedy work. They are just goons after a paycheck. The bright spot is that even now, some of the president's men are saying he's guilty of Crimes against humanity. And he is,Hell the whole government is. It's time to make corrupt politicians an endangered
livelyhood. It's this kind of governance that we are supposed to keep our guns for. To insure they don't get to out of line. Attacking Iran is folly. One that will lead to attacks on America, real ones, not government supported ones like 9/11. These fools think they can get away with anything. Mainly because they got the rules changed to their favor on 9/12. Jeffreson said it best, 'When you surrender Freedom and liberty for Security, you open the door to Tyranny." He also said we needed a revolution every 25 years or so to keep the government honest. We can do it without bloodshed. We just need 10 or 20 million of us to all go to DC and stand around the Capital and Whitehouse and refuse to move until they all resign. Once we stop things like food and water and toiletpaper from getting to them, they'll give in.
It's time for the People to Lead and the first place the people need to lead to is prison for Bush and pals, hopefully Gitmo and a nice damp waterboard to sleep on.
Draft Jeffrey7 for Prez in '08
Let's regain our Freedom and sanity

Does anyone remember 1 year ago?

I think it was 1 year ago; or perhaps 2, when someone in the MSM first uttered a suspicion that the shrub and dead-eye dick had their eye on attacking Iran.

BOTH FLATLY DENIED IT.

What they have done in the meantime is what has been going on for the past 7 years: They have gotten the population used to the idea; and that's why there isn't any uprising.

They reveal their intentions slowly, first starting with denial, then slowly morphing that within 12 months or so into the complete opposite scenario. Now, they are crying "bombs away!" when nothing of any real importance has changed in Iran.

Can you picture the mayhem if, one day in 2000, Americans woke up SUDDENLY to 4.69 a gallon gas; healthcare they couldn't afford, two wars, one GOP scandal a week, the gov't spying on them legally, a crumbling infrastructure, the invasive and ridiculous airport security measure, hell, all the ridiculous security measures and all the other fucked up developments since the shrub stole office? I think they would be in shock. I know I would. I actually am, but that's because I read.

But this administration - no matter who tells you they are incompetent, they aren't - has known ALL ALONG that if they do it slowly, and as the shrub himself has said, "catapult the propanda", we'd learn to live with just about anything that previously would have been unthinkable. They have changed our reality as much as it possibly could be changed. AND WE LET THEM.

And still MOST Americans trust them and think they have our best interests at heart. That is the part that is probably saddest of all.

I blame the main stream, corporate-controlled media as much as I blame the horrible, fascist regime that took power in 2001.

Conyers spent quite a long time on that incredibly hectic day on the Hill, we are meeting with Congressman Conyers on 7/8 or 7/9 where he promised each of us , Brother and Sister Veterans he would tell us EXACTLY whst would be done. When we met with Dennis later that day, he told us he was going to give the Judiciary 30 days from the date he Introduced the Resolution, if they say nothing, he will again present the resolution to Impeach and this time it will include 25 more Articles, he swore by us that he was not going to allow them to end it this way. Again we will meet with Dennis, hopefully on the same day as Conyers. Yo, 95 is a bitch.

There are two Nimitz class carriers floating off the coast of Iran. Does anyone really think the Iranians won't sink both if attacked by the US? We get to bomb phony nuke plants and they get back at the US for Iraq. Maybe then Bush will get impeached.

Given the increasing concern over Bush and Iran, Why not consider the following suggestion I send to Obama?
Dear Senator Obama,

Please consider General Wesley Clark for the VP slot on your ticket. (For the record, I was a John Edwards supporter until he withdrew.)

My reason for concern: I have been voting a straight Democratic ticket since 1954, and recently I have grown sick and tired of unnecessarily loosing presidential elections. So let’s get this one right!

Our reason for concern: actually there are many good reasons for selecting Wes Clark, but one stands out as overwhelming. Your perceived inexperience in the area of military preparedness. (Voting for military appropriations does not sufficiently project this image.)

This issue is more important than many people think, not just because the Bush administration and many other leaders in both parties want to stay in Iraq, maintain the war on terrorism, and attack Iran as soon as sufficient pretexts can be manufactured, but because there is a strong likelihood that the Bush administration will orchestrate an October Surprise by attacking Iran.

As you well know, this would catapult military experience and military preparedness to the front burner, and would very likely rally many voters around the Bush-McCain position. I respectfully suggest you shield your most vulnerable Achilles’ heel.

Wes Clark (mainly because he is the best known general with acceptable positions on war) has the credentials to shield our perceived weak spot, and legitimize a slow withdrawal from Iraq as well as negotiations with Iran.

Many voters will want to feel comfortable on both of these issues and Wes Clark will provide a huge measure of comfort to many on this issue.

If I am mistaking please let me know.
If we go into Iran VIA Bush, wouldn’t that extend his Presidency?
Seems to me this is what his stinking plan is.
What do you think?

Study the Constitution. There is a provision for amending the constitution by the States through the convention method. This is what the criminals in our government fear the most. WE THE PEOPLE can institute it by calling upon our State legislatures to petition Congress for a Convention where Amendments can be proposed and ratified in short order. One such Amendment would be for the States to be able to remove criminal officeholders by a specified procedure. Congress has failed us.

Impeachment is necessary. Justice requires it. If the Congress won't do it's duty then the States must step in and set things right.

Education is the solution. The States hold the power to make things right.
