The revelation that Bush will sign an agreement for a permanent U.S. military presence in Iraq before his term is up confirms the real reason he invadedIraq and changed its regime.

It was never about weapons of mass destruction. It was never about ties between Saddam and al Qaeda. And it was never about bringing democracy to the Iraqi people. These claims were lies to cover up the real motive for Operation Iraqi Freedom: to create a permanent American presence in Iraq. With Bush's November 26, 2007 announcement that the United States and Iraq were negotiating a permanent "security relationship," his lies have been exposed.

Bush declared, Iraqi leaders "understand that their success will require U.S. political, economic, and security engagement that extends beyond my presidency." His outline for the permanent U.S.-Iraqi "Economic" relationship is "to encourage the flow of foreign investments to Iraq." Two senior Iraqi officials told the Associated Press that Bush is negotiating preferential treatment for U.S. investments.

This isn't the first time Bush has tried to turn Iraq into an investment haven for U.S. oil companies. He used to tout the "Iraqi oil law," which would transfer control of three-quarters of Iraq's oil to foreign companies, as the benchmark for Iraqi progress. But in the face of opposition by the Iraqi oil unions, the parliament has refused to pass that law.

All along, Bush has been building mega-bases In Iraq. Camp Anaconda, which sits on 15 square miles of Iraqi soil, has a pool, gym, theater, beauty salon, school and six apartment buildings. Our $600 million American embassy in the Green Zone just opened. The largest embassy in the world, it is a self-contained city with no need for Iraqi electricity, food or water.

Although Bush has negotiated terms to keep U.S. troops in Iraq in perpetuity, the majority of American people oppose a permanent American occupation of Iraq.

So do many Iraqis. University of Michigan Juan Cole's blog, "Informed Comment," cited an Al-Hayat report in Arabic that the Sadr Movement and the Sunni Iraqi Accord Front rejected the "memorandum of understanding" between the United States and Iraq that Bush and Nuri al-Maliki signed. According to the Iraqi Constitution, the agreement would be illegal unless ratified by the legislature, and Iraqi lawmakers complain about the absence of any timetable for the withdrawal of U.S. troops.

No wonder Iraqis oppose the U.S. occupation. The organization Just Foreign Policy has estimated that 1,118,846 Iraqis have been killed since Operation Iraqi Freedom began. Australian born journalist John Pilger wrote, "The scale of death caused by the British and U.S. governments may well have surpassed that of the Rwanda genocide, making it the biggest single act of mass murder of the late 20th century and the 21st century."

Yet Congress refuses to reign in the President. When Bush announced that violence is down in Baghdad so he can withdraw 5,000 troops, the Democratic candidates cheered, diverting their criticism to the lack of political progress in Iraq. But with so many Iraqis dead, there are fewer to kill.

We the people have to keep the pressure on. As we demand the United States withdraw completely from Iraq, we must also forbid Bush to attack Iran. Our voices must be heard - by Congress, by the media, and throughout the world.

Good luck with "demanding" and "forbidding". Forbidding! What you/we gonna do? Give George fucking Bush a spanking? Hold our breath till we turn blue? Stomp our foot?
Threaten to elect an "agent for change"? Just has Hugo Chavez has done, just as Hitler did, a civilized democracy was subverted from within. Rule of law was used to destroy the rule of law. The game is ALREADY OVER. We are a bunch of boiled frogs. The heat was slowly turned up, so slowly that it wasn't noticed, and now it's game over.

Where was the public debate/outrage when cops started wearing black uniforms and no identification? Where was the debate/outrage for the property tax? Corporate person-hood? Gun control/confiscation? Corporate-run prisons? Helicopter-based infrared surveillance? Bogus history taught in public schools? Movie/book/magazine censorship? Faith-based anything? Secret prisons? remote hacking of a suspects computer systems by police? Seizure/forfeiture of assets without trial? outrageously long prison sentences, especially for non-violent drug "offenders"? Cops driving around in armored personnel carriers? (You'd think that last one would have tipped a few people off as to the agenda).

Why be outraged about what this government is doing OUTSIDE the US? You REALLY think anyone is going to complain/demand ANYTHING at this point? Give me a fucking break. ANYONE who does ANYTHING that would send a real message to this government would be destroyed; by the media, by the government, and by the people. Most Americans are still foolish enough to believe that the heroic American soldier is fighting for our Freedom! THAT'S how clueless the American is. That same American soldier will be coming home fully trained to be a black-uniformed cop. Get the connection? Most Americans WON'T get that connection until they wake up one morning at 3am with a boot on their neck and an assault rifle pointed at their head.

Let's put it another way. With each law that gets passed, with each prisoner that gets tortured, with each soldier that rapes a 14 year old girl in Iraq, it get progressively harder for Americans to change anything this government is doing. Each time we let a freedom slip away, it removes part of the self-correcting mechanism created by the founders of this country. Each time we look away, or give this government the benefit of the doubt, we lose. Each act by this criminal government that is not objected to then becomes "standard procedure". And every election where we go through the motions of pretending the candidates have the slightest interest in the population of this country, or the country itself, we lose. Elections are part of The Matrix now. They are symbolic of what we would have if we actually had the free country that we pretend to have. This is a culture that is build on lies, and only survives by maintaining those lies.

Hey, but it's not ALL bad. At least everyone is safe now, because that's REALLY what's important, right? And all it took was complete submission and surrender.

Did anyone actually believe that Iraq was about anything other than money and oil? Did anyone think that this criminal president and his criminal administration would care anything about Iraqi people? We saw how he cared about New Orleans, especially the poor people! This president is a criminal. It's time that he was impeached along with his evil twin. Criminal charges need to be brought against every one in his administration! Honest to God, Democrats, what good does it do for you to continue to do investigations, issue subpoenas, etc. when there is no follow through. If I didn't respond to a subpoena, do you think the same thing would happen? Just do it!!!
