Elie Wiesel's Shocking Stage Appearance With Mad Preacher and Anti-Semite John Hagee

By Max Blumenthal, AlterNet. Posted October 29, 2009.

The controversial Christian right figure baselessly trashed Obama, and Nobel laureate and Holocaust survivor Wiesel calls him "dear pastor." What gives?

On Oct. 25, while an overflow crowd of 1,500 poured into the first convention of the progressive-leaning Israel-oriented lobbying organization J Street, Elie Wiesel addressed a crowd of 6,000 Christian Zionists at Pastor John Hagee's "Night To Honor Israel."

According to the San Antonio Express News, while Wiesel sat by his side, Hagee trashed President Barack Obama, baselessly accusing him of "being tougher on Israel than on Russia, Iran, China and North Korea."

Meanwhile, Israeli Ambassador Michael Oren, who appeared at Hagee's Christians United for Israel summit earlier this year, rejected J Street's request to speak at their convention, instead dispatching a low-level embassy official to "observe" the event. Oren then accused J Street of "impair[ing] Israel's interests."

In blessing Hagee while damning J Street, Wiesel and Oren chose an anti-Semitic group led by a far-right end-times theology preacher over a fledgling progressive organization that bills itself as "pro-Israel, pro-peace." And both Wiesel and Oren seem to be embroiled in yet another controversy over involvement with the extremist preacher.

In the video below, Hagee warns that the anti-Christ will be homosexual, German and Jewish:

During the 2008 presidential campaign, Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., avidly sought Hagee's endorsement, appearing by the pastor's side during a widely publicized press conference to announce it. McCain was intent on winning a seal of approval from a figure of the Christian right, especially since he had lambasted Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson in the 2000 Republican presidential primaries.

McCain may have been completely unaware of Hagee's sermon declaring the Holocaust to be a divinely ordained incident orchestrated by God to fulfill biblical prophecy; Hagee's accusation that the Jews' rejection of Jesus was the root of anti-Semitism; or his prediction that when the Antichrist returned, he would be homosexual and "partially Jewish, as was Adolph Hitler, as was Karl Marx."

When Hagee's anti-Semitic ravings surfaced on blogs like Talk2Action.org and eventually gained national notoriety, McCain renounced the preacher's endorsement.

Video below shows footage of Hagee's notorious Hitler sermon.

Unlike McCain, Oren and Wiesel cannot claim ignorance of Hagee's anti-Semitic remarks precisely because of the clamor over McCain's disassociation.

"My dear pastor, when I hear that Christians are getting together in order to defend the people of Israel, of course it brings joy to my heart," Wiesel told Hagee in a Sept. 3 interview. "And it simply says, look, people have learned from history." (Hagee is hawking DVD's of his Wiesel interview for $15 each on his personal Web site, turning footage of the encounter into a windfall profit.)

Hagee is Preaching for Israel, not Christ

Hagee speaks about raising money for Israel and concentrates on his own interpretation of Revelation. He is doing a good job for Israel and that is why they like him. If it becomes a problem for them, they will drop him.

Next, they will all be burying crosses in Israel and worshipping their mind controller, their True Father, Rev. Sun Myung Moon. They will have to. There won't be anything left of Religion by the time they get done with it.

Let’s hear them deny Moon and see how long their Obama bashing ministry lingers without his drug money support. They won’t do that though because they know what happened to Colorado Springs. They forgot to turn on Norad during 9/11 and everyone went a little bit out on a limb for the preacher bit for Israel. In fact they went all the way to Israel and did not even bother to tell their buddy George and his choice of Secretary of State, because she was… you know… similar in skin color to those which do not conform well to Good Ol’ Boys and their dog and pony show.

Maybe they have quite a few people fooled, but not Japan. They are probably getting tired of it by now, and so is the Air Force I bet.

Christ would never have approved, as indicated by his own words in the Bible. Anyway, the battle is being fought in the minds of people everywhere, not in Israel. Never has it been so important for people to think for themselves and not be swayed by false prophets seeking profits.

When I saw Weisel's name among the Madoff victims, I felt terrible for him and for the work he sponsors. How awful to survive the Holocaust and to be a victim again, I thought. Now he appears to have been taken in yet again. There is plenty of money on the Christian right, and you have to wonder what promises they made him.

It's a modern tragedy, no matter what Jeffrey Goldberg (the former Israeli prison guard) may say, and you, Max, are no self-hating Jew for saying so.

Honky scribbles, "...We should all be anti Semites. Please keep in mind that I don’t care about Palestine or Muslims."

So true! Honky's an equal opportunity hater.

Make no mistake, the lessons of the Civil Rights Movement were not lost on Honky.

Is it because deep down you know that you yourself are inferior?

Your stereotypes are ridiculous. Most Jewish people tip MORE that 15%. It's the sprayheads whom I see stiffing waitresses in cafes.

And the media? Last I heard Rupert Murdoch, Ted Turner, the Quayle family, etc. weren't Jewish. Nor are the bank owning families such as the Mellons and Morgans.

Wiesel's past comments about Israel and the Arabs
Posted by: drosera on Oct 29, 2009 5:14 AM
Current rating: 5    [1 = poor; 5 = excellent]
Wiesel did not deserve the Nobel Peace Prize. In past Arab-Israeli conflicts--Lebanon and Gaza in particular--he has never decried openly the atrocities committed by the Israelis--the phosphorus weapons, the bombing of schools, the deliberate destruction of infrastructure.

Why? I don't know. Perhaps when you have been through what he has been through, you lose the capacity to understand conflict from different perspectives. Or, the importance of the "chosen people" achieving not only peace but dominance could play a factor, too. In any case, he has lost my respect and the respect of many others who care about peace in the Middle East.

This is why J Street is so important

America, Israel, Palestine and the world and in tragic need of an honest, dedicated, open, and meaningful dialogue regarding the real people in the Middle East, humane solutions to existing grievances, and constructive steps toward a lasting peace.

This can only occur by breaking down the stranglehold that the extremists and individual opportunists on all sides are marginalized - and since they now control the existing conversation, this will take a long, long time. Muslim Clerics, Jewish leaders, and American politicians need to all step up and reclaim the high moral ground without fearing the financial or violent retribution of the fundamentalists who have stolen their respective faiths, churches, or media.

J Street is a vital breath of fresh air in the midst of all of this. The Hagees, the Wiesels, the Limbaughs, the Becks, the AIPACs, etc. have narrow, self-gratifying agendas and could care less about the broader needs and concerns of humankind.

Hagee's events are no different than the "motivational" circus that GW Bush recently spoke at. They are all cons preying on the needy for the single purpose of making money. "Saved?", "motivated?", "entertained?", whatever. You collect the money, smile, and pitch the tent in another city.

Once again "religion"......

"...perhaps he doesn't take it seriously and feels such nonsense should not get in the way of Hagee's financial and propaganda support for the settlement movement on the West Bank that is now at the heart of difficulty in the U.S.-Israel relationship."

And yet you are surprised that Wiesel wouldn't attend a J Street function, haven't you realized that Israel and those who vehemently support her will not brook any descent from their position. J Street is denigrated because they support saner, more even handed policies, and Hagee and his ilk are tolerated because of their blind allegiance and financial support toward Israel! The Israeli's on the other hand dismiss "the Rapture" and don't even recognize that "the Christians" that really believe are actually waiting for the destruction of Israel by G-d!

It really is a sad commentary that in the 21st century, religion is still being manipulated to both rouse and control "the faithful"!

Some of what is written here is no doubt relevant but to say that Hagee / CUFI (Christians United For Israel) is more hostile toward Israel than Jeremy ben-Ami / J Street strains credulity. I am not a Hagee fan - Hagee did nothing to challenge nor condemn former President Bush's anti-Israel policies - yet J Street is decidedly anti-Israel.

the root cause of anti-semitism: Christians put Paul ahead of Jesus!
Posted by: vasumurti on Oct 29, 2009 7:05 AM
Current rating: 3    [1 = poor; 5 = excellent]
Christians argue they are no longer under Mosaic Law, because Paul referred to his background as a former Pharisee and previous adherence to Mosaic Law as "so much garbage."

Nothing in the synoptic gospels suggests a break with Judaism. Jesus was called "Rabbi," meaning "Master" or "Teacher," 42 times in the gospels. Jesus' ministry was a rabbinic one. He went to the synagogue (Matthew 12:9), taught in the synagogues (Matthew 4:23, 13:54; Mark 1:39), expressed concern for Jairus, "one of the rulers of the synagogue" (Mark 5:36) and it "was his custom" to go to the synagogue (Luke 4:16).

Jesus himself said, "Do not suppose I have come to abolish the Law and the prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill...till heaven and earth pass away, not one jot or tittle pass from the Law till all is fulfilled. Whoever, therefore, breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches men so shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven...unless your righteousness exceeds the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven." (Matthew 5:17-20)

Jesus also upheld the Torah in Luke 16:17: "And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away than for the smallest portion of the Law to become invalid."

Nor do these words refer merely to the Ten Commandments. Jesus meant the entire Torah: 613 commandments. When a man asked Jesus what he must do to inherit eternal life, Jesus replied, "You know the commandments." He quoted not just the Ten Commandments, but a commandment from Leviticus 19:13 as well: "Do not defraud." (Mark 10:17-22)

Jesus' disciples were once accused by the scribes and Pharisees of violating rabbinical tradition (Matthew 15:1-2; Mark 7:5), but not biblical law. Jesus never says anywhere in the entire New Testament that the Law is abolished; this was Paul's theology.

Sometimes Christians cite Matthew 7:12, where Jesus says "Do unto others..." and this "covers" the Law and the prophets. But Jesus was merely repeating in the positive what Rabbi Hillel taught a generation earlier. No one took Hillel's words to mean the Law had been abolished--why should we assume this of Jesus?

If Jesus really came to abolish the Law and the prophets, Simon (Peter) would not have resisted a divine command to kill and eat both "clean" and "unclean" animals (Acts 10), nor would there have been a debate in the early church as to what extent the gentiles were to observe Mosaic Law (Acts 15). When Paul visited the church at Jerusalem, James and the elders told him all its members were "zealous for the Law," and they were worried because they heard rumors Paul was preaching against Mosaic Law (Acts 21). None of these events would have happened had Jesus really come to abolish the Law and the prophets.

Paul says if anyone has confidence in the Law, "I am ahead of him."

Would that mean Paul places himself ahead of Jesus, who said he did not come to abolish the Law and the prophets? Would that mean Paul places himself ahead of Jesus, who said whoever sets aside even the least of the Law's demands shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven (Matthew 5:17-19)?

Would that mean Paul places himself ahead of Jesus, who taught that following the commandments of God is the only way to eternal life (Mark 10:17-22)? Would that mean Paul places himself ahead of Jesus who said that it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away than for the smallest portion of the Law to become invalid (Luke 16:17)?

Paul may have regarded the Law as "so much garbage," but it should be obvious JESUS DIDN'T THINK THE LAW WAS "GARBAGE"!

Christians believe in Paul, not Jesus. Bertrand Russell called Paul the "inventor" of Christianity.

If the politically correct pseudo-Left would look behind these little saints in their silly hagiography they'd find out just what kind of lying scumbags have been pulling the wool over their eyes for decades--there would be no reason to be surprised that these two animals would be displayed on the same stage.

Its the same reason why the Nazi-lover Schwartzeneggar and the Holocaust Industry's Weisenthal were always hand-in-glove...the same reason why we see a picture of the Gubernator, Lord Rothschild and Warren Buffet on the lawn at Rothschild's castle.

Its one sorry group of scoundrels who just put on a political show every few years and then do exactly what they want to when their Democratic side or Republican side 'wins'--and what they want to do is steal everything that isn't nailed down and institute a New World Order police state to keep the people in line if they ever wake up.

The pseudo-Left are the people who feel superior because they know wrestling in fake... and then go out and buy into "Raging" Obama's 'hope' and 'change' and think that when he bounces 'Mad Dog' McCain off the ropes and unleashes a can of 'whoop ass' on him in the political ring that it is a real fight... Well, hot damn!

Elie Wiesel lost whatever moral integrity he ever actually possessed a long, long time ago. His message was always a tribalistic, ethnocentric one, which may be understandable, given his background, but it doesn't make it moral. There, I've said it.

They are practicing neither Judeism nor Christianity. They are practicing Satanism.
The mere fact they believe that there is any entity equal to, or greater than, The one and Only One' is the Antithesis of these Monotheistic religions.
How does a faithful Jew reconcil the belief in a 'Final Battle' between 'Good and Evil' with 'God's Will'? At the most, if God is the One and Only One Almighty, Satan is nothing more then a pesky peon. God, nor the humans He Created in His Image, are subject to the whims and desires of such a lowly entity as Lucifer.Lucifer hated humanity being 'Beloved' creations.
In fact it is Lucifer who bribes man and is said to reward people who worship him with Earthy riches and power, not God, esp according to Christ. Rewards and punsihments are determined upon your death, not your birth. It is reliant on how you led your life in the worship of,and service to, the One True God. As evidenced to your adherence to the Golden Rules of Worship, and Communal living.
What these bastardized sects are actually practicing are the same religions of centuries, millenia gone by. The concepts which not only crowned European Monarchies, but Empires, Ceasars and Pharoahs imposed, proclaiming to be 'ordained'by the God(s).They Too hold the idea they were 'pre Blessed' by god as proof by their earthy possessions and influence.
But what is most disturbing is that a sociopathic facet of this religion believe (relish)the idea that they will have the opportunity to see their Righteousness be vindicated in some Apocalyptic Show Down. A Wrath of God which will rein terror, violence and suffering over the majority of Humanity. The Rapture isn't just vindication, it's a desire to see revenge. They not only want to experience 'ascesion' but witness the Damnation of others.
Hagee wanted the Pre emptive strikes on Iran to kick start a 'Holy War'. He was well aware that should that happen Israel would be the first to feel direct retailiation from their adversaries, and repeated terrorism into the future.Essentially condemning all those who reside in Israel to destruction. How can the Temple of Solomon be Re Built if the region is under constant attack? Hagee is using 'the Israelites',he considers them not just the 'bait' but the sacrific! Hagee still holds the belief the Jews Killed Christ and he wants to see those who don't repent suffer the most. Why the limited number of Rapture Bus passes for Jews? Only 144,000? Will the Hageeites expect them to sit in the back? Just lucky for them that these 'christians' showed them The Way to being 'Gods Chosen People'??
Hagee and his ilk are not just heretics in the doctrine of Christianity, but also Judeism. Both were born under the concept of Monotheism. Subscribers of this Pre anointed/blessed, "Final Battle" doctrine of St Johns 'Revelations' rejects that most fundemental premise to both. These 'Armegeddonists' take is more akin to 'Clash of the Titans', then 'The One and Only One Creator of Heaven and Earth, Almighty God'.
I have no problem with duelists or polytheists, it's just that when they are seeking ultimate destruction of every one else to fulfill their Delusions of Granduer- they become a threat. Only challengers to the reining Champion, and Status Quo, seek a Game Changers. You have to believe there is even a worthy Contender, and further a chance of that opposition winning. That concept alone is the outright rejection of numerous Commandments which are the foundations of not just Judeism and Chrisitianity, but Islam.
At Best these sects are practicing a form of Buddism that believes in the balance between 'Yin and Yang' and a pre determined life experience as dictated by the process of reincarnation. But their morbid facination with Divine Vindication and rewards through the punishment of others, enmasse, makes this religion nothing short of Sadistic.

Weisel and his sponsors

Elie Weisel made his bones with the Likud/Kadima mafia a long time ago. Asked about Ariel Sharon's Lebanese Phalange slaughter of 1000 Palestinians in Sabra and Shatila in (81 or 82), Weisel shrugged and said, "What can I say"?

The memory of the Holocaust has now been transformed into a cudgel to beat anybody who disagrees with Likud/Kadima. This is in itself appallingly cynical in that it trades on the suffering of the 6 million for the most, sectarian sort of political advantage. But people like "Bibi" will never tire of treading on their bones so he can "look tough". What is more appalling is that a "human rights activist" with the almost iron-clad credibility of a Holocaust survival should also trade on the memory of those who died all around him in the camps.

"Never again!" they keep shouting. But of course, it's bunk. Genocide didn't start and end in Nazi Germany and Europe's Jews were never it's only victims. The "lesson" of the Holocaust is not that it happened to Europe's Jews (after 6 million Roma, gays, socialists, resistance fighters, Slavs and gentiles died too). The "lesson" is that it happened, period. Weisel knows that but wants to bury it under an avalanche of "pro-Israel" rationalizations.

Support J Street! Somebody has to bring some sanity into this ugly picture.

Jesus Paul Reality Check

Jesus had to speak warmly of Israel his family lived there and he didn't want them to get the "Alan Dershowitz" treatment from the authorities. Paul did not care what they thought, his job was to strip away what could not be said when Jesus was alive, which was first Jesus was the Messiah, and second in previously unpublished accounts this is what Jesus would have said if it wasn't for the nasty Pharisees and Sadducees. Third the fact that the authorities hounded Jesus to death meant that they abandoned the Judaism of the temple for by thy actions thy will be judged. And the Temple authorities were hypocrites. It is why John's Gospel is far more strident, he is freely saying what Jesus really thought of the keepers of the law
This is a no brainer.

the Romans--not the Jews--were responsible for the crucifixion
Posted by: vasumurti on Oct 29, 2009 4:13 PM
Current rating: 3    [1 = poor; 5 = excellent]
Christian theologian Dr. Upton Clary Ewing writes:

"The wrongful blaming of the Jews for the death of Jesus has been one of the most effective roadblocks ever placed in the highway leading to the brotherhood of man. It is not only shameful, but completely illogical, for one to continue to hold that the Jews were responsible for the death of Jesus. As all the evidences of comparative beliefs seem to verify, Jesus and the Pharisees were more in agreement on religious issues than they were in disagreement.

"As for Jesus' declaring Himself to be the Messiah, the Jewish hierarchy would have been more amused than hostile at the audacity of anyone from Galilee making such a claim. The Jews, with very few exceptions, were far from being averse to the principles of Jesus. Even those who were annoyed by His jibes and His admonitions would not have felt justified in taking severe measures against Him. There were great multitudes of Jews who, although they dared not protest to the Romans, wept deeply as they followed Jesus to His crucifixion. Even the gospel of Luke openly admits the sincere affection the Jews had for Jesus. 'And there followed Him a great company of people and of women who also bewailed and lamented Him.' (Luke 23:27)

"The trial and execution of Jesus was strictly a Roman responsibility. It was prompted by and carried out in accord with strict Roman ordinances which extended little leniency to a Jew. The Jews under Roman authority were tolerated only when they conformed to all the articles of strict obedience. To be involved in the slightest misdemeanor, even among themselves, could mean the lash or other harsh, humiliating punishment.

"During the Roman occupation of Judea, it was the custom of the time to mete out severe punishment for a Jew for an offense that would hardly warrant the arrest of a Roman citizen. One does not need other historical evidence to confirm this; verification is found where Paul is charged with disturbing the peace: 'Is it lawful for you to scourge a man that is a Roman?' (Acts 22:24-29)

"The crucifixion of Jesus is explicable on one ground only: that He was sentenced to death and executed by Roman authority as a sower of sedition against Roman rule. A sentence by the Sanhedrin was imagined, and condemnation pronounced on the grounds that Jesus laid claim to be the Son of God. Jesus, as all four evangelists are compelled to admit, was condemned to death by Pilate on political grounds as 'King of the Jews,' that is, as a Messianic agitator who laid claim to some kind of royalty in Israel, which automatically made Him subversive of the imperial government. Historically, the case of Jesus is intelligible only if we admit from the outset that He was sentenced to death by Pilate alone, acting as a representative of Roman authority.

"Crucifixion was strictly a Roman means of execution. Death by stoning was the method used by the Jews, and this was ordered by the Sanhedrin only upon conviction of blasphemy; i.e., for cursing or denying the existence of God, which Jesus did not do. Up to the time of Jesus the Sanhedrin had not imposed a death sentence in over 200 years. In fact even if they had desired to do so they could not, for capital punishment was administered solely by Roman authority for crimes against imperial law...they nailed a sign on the cross to show their contempt for the Messianic claims of Jesus: 'Behold Him the king of the Jews.' These words which appear in all four gospels spell out examples of Roman vituperation, not Jewish judgment."

The NT says Pilate unwillingly sentenced Jesus to death, but Josephus says Pontius Pilate was so brutal he was recalled to Rome because of too many executions! Luke 13:1-5 reveals the real Pilate: "...the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mixed with their sacrifices..."

My respect for Elie Weisel, just took a big drop. He should know better than to link himself with this hypocrite, John Magee. Magee is a fundie of the worst kind. He is racist, homophobic, and anti- semitic. To support him is to buy into his insanity.

Israel News

"Hundreds of Fatah terrorists from Gaza have been living in Yehudah and Shomron (Judea and Samaria) for more than two years after fleeing from Hamas during bloody fights for control of Gaza in 2007. The Palestinian Authority has now filed an official request asking Israel to allow Fatah members to stay where they are.

"The roughly 400 terrorists who fled Gaza are unable to move freely throughout Yehudah and Shomron for fear that they will be stopped at a checkpoint and forced to return to their place of residence – Gaza – where, they say, they could face revenge attacks.

"A PA source said Israel has not refused the request outright, but has asked each of the 400 to submit an individual request for Yehudah and Shomron residency. Israel is generally cautious about granting Gaza residents permits to move to Yehudah and Shomron out of concern that terrorists could move from place to place in order to set up new terror cells and plan attacks.

"Several dozen Fatah terrorists were killed in the 2007 battle for Gaza, and hundreds were wounded. Intermittent Fatah-Hamas clashes have been reported in Gaza, Yehudah and Shomron over the past two years as well, and hundreds have been killed or wounded.

Zionism Destroyed Lives, Jewish and Palestinian.

Those who know very little history say that Zionism destroyed just Palestinian lives, but that it was good for Jews.

Those who know very little history often claim that Zionism had nothing to do with the ethnic cleansing of Palestine.

But, the truth is that Zionism destroyed the lives of many Palestinians and Jews. After the establishment of Israel and decades after the emergence of Zionism in Europe, Iraqi, Iranian and Egyptian Jews were lured into immigrating to Israel by Zionist movements.

When those Jews arrived in Israel, they were treated like primitive sub-humans by the racist European Zionists.

My own grandparents - who immigrated from Iraq - were well off and had a nice real estate in Iraq.

When they arrived in Israel in the early 1950s they were put in shacks. Other immigrants were put in tents or huts for several years, while the "white" European Jews were provided with nicely furnished apartments and running water.

My grandparents, among a thousand others like them, never felt assimilated or welcomed in the land of milk and honey, in Israel.

When Jewish immigration to Israel did not satisfy the quotas Zionists needed to run a fully functioning state with institutions, farmers, machine operators and maintenance workers, for example, they sought to force Jews in various Arab countries to immigrate to Israel.

In both Egypt and Iraq, for example, Zionist Israeli agents planted bombs to create tensions between Jews, Muslims and Christians.

The Lavon Affair, was such a case involving Zionist agents in Egypt.

Israel would then point to those bombings and claim that they are proof that their native countries hate them.

In the end, Zionism and the colonial adventure that is Israel has destroyed many lives and affected several generations.

Entire Palestinian families lost their loved ones too. They lost their homes and property.

And Jews from Arab countries were stripped of their dignity, pride and their life's achievements thanks to Zionism.

Let's remember that Weisel also called a ripoff artist named Bernie Madoff "God"--a strange nickname to employ for someone who poignantly claimed he no longer believed in god after his dreadful personal experience in the holocaust.

Weisel wrote an excellent tome once upon a time and apparently since has lost his mind and morality...

The wrongful blaming

The wrongful blaming of the Jews for the death of Jesus has been one of the most effective roadblocks ever placed in the highway leading to the brotherhood of man.

The Jews under Roman authority were tolerated only when they conformed to all the articles of обои к фильмам обои кино турнир по казакам казаки самолеты авиация seropol5 strict obedience. To be involved in the slightest misdemeanor, even among themselves, could mean the lash or other harsh, humiliating punishment.
