Democrats Are Cowards in the Face of Israel's Brutality

By Stephen Zunes, AlterNet. Posted January 6, 2009.

Democrats have silenced dissent and offered unflinching support for Israeli actions, including gross violations of international law.

The Democratic leadership's strident support for the ongoing Israeli assault on the Gaza Strip underscores how the Democrats suffer from the same illusions as the outgoing Republican administration: that placing an Arab territory under debilitating sanctions that punish the population as a whole, bombarding heavily populated civilian areas -- resulting in widespread casualties among innocent people -- and invading and occupying territories with a long history of resistance to outsiders will somehow lead to greater moderation from those afflicted.

The reality is that Israel's war against Hamas and the Palestinians of the Gaza Strip is no more likely to result in more rational and compromising positions from the Palestinian side than the firing of rockets by Hamas into Israel will lead to more rational and compromising positions from the Israelis.

As a result, the hard-line militaristic position of the Democratic Party does not bode well for a more enlightened Middle East policy after eight disastrous years under President George W. Bush.

On Capitol Hill, resolutions are being prepared in the House and Senate to defend the Bush administration's policy of unconditional support for the Israeli assaults, which as of this writing have led to the deaths of 500 people, at least one-quarter of whom were civilians. Unless there is widespread public opposition, it appears that the overwhelming majority of congressional Democrats will vote along with their Republican colleagues in favor of these resolutions, thereby giving Israel a blank check to continue the carnage and, as a result, give Hamas and other Palestinian militant groups the excuse to continue their attacks against Israeli civilians as well.

Democrats Goad Israel Into War

In June, 38 of 49 Democratic senators -- including Secretary of State-designate Hillary Clinton of New York -- wrote a letter (PDF) to President Bush that Americans for Peace Now, a moderate Zionist group, warned would build "a defense, in advance, for a large Israeli military offensive in Gaza." The letter also urged the Bush administration to block any U.N. Security Council resolution critical of Israel, claiming that United Nations opposition to Israeli attacks against crowded urban areas constituted a refusal to "acknowledge Israel's right to self-defense." An almost identical letter in the House, drafted by House Majority Leader Rep. Steny Hoyer, D-Md., received the signatures of 150 of the body's 230 Democrats.

Americans for Peace Now noted that such an Israeli offensive against the Gaza Strip would likely result in large-scale civilian casualties. In apparent anticipation of the large numbers of Palestinian deaths that would result from such military operations in the Gaza Strip, the House passed a resolution (PDF) in March, during an outbreak of fighting, that claimed, "Those responsible for launching rocket attacks against Israel routinely embed their production facilities and launch sites amongst the Palestinian civilian population, utilizing them as human shields." The resolution goes on to specifically condemn "the use of innocent Palestinian civilians as human shields by those who carry out rocket and other attacks" and yet again makes note of Palestinians who "continue to be utilized as human shields by terrorist organizations."

But according to Joe Stork of the Middle East division of Human Rights Watch, while Hamas failed to take all feasible precautions to protect civilians in the densely populated Gaza Strip, the watchdog group had found no instances of Hamas actually using human shields in the legally defined sense of deliberately using civilians as a means of deterring counterattacks. Despite my contacting the offices of more than a dozen Democratic members of Congress who supported the resolution -- all of whom are members of the so-called Progressive Caucus -- none of them could provide any examples of Hamas actually using human shields. It appears that the Democrats' goal in pushing through this resolution was to convince their constituents that it was the Palestinians, not the Israelis who were attacking them, who were responsible for civilian casualties and who would likewise be responsible for the far greater number of civilian casualties that would inevitably result from the Israeli bombardment and invasion which was to commence later that year.

The resolution also gave unqualified support for the Israeli government's attacks against the Gaza Strip, even as Amnesty International condemned Israel's "reckless disregard for civilian life" in its bombing and shelling of civilian population centers. The AI report also noted how the attacks by Palestinians against civilian-populated areas in Israel, which the report also roundly condemned, "does not make it legitimate for the Israeli authorities to launch reckless air and artillery strikes which wreak such death and destruction among Palestinian civilians."

Not a single one of the 230 Democrats in the House of Representatives voted against the resolution. (There were four abstentions, and 12 did not vote.) This sent a clear signal that there would be no opposition in Congress -- which provides over $4 billion annually in unconditional military and economic aid to the Israeli government -- for an even larger military assault against the Palestinian population of the enclave.

According to the US Code, Israel is a terrorist nation

Israel is a terrorist nation, plain and simple. According to the US Code, 18USC2331, international terrorism is defined as follows:

TITLE 18--CRIMES AND CRIMINAL PROCEDURE

PART I--CRIMES

CHAPTER 113B--TERRORISM

Sec. 2331. Definitions

As used in this chapter--
(1) the term ``international terrorism'' means activities that--
(A) involve violent acts or acts dangerous to human life
that are a violation of the criminal laws of the United States
or of any State, or that would be a criminal violation if
committed within the jurisdiction of the United States or of any
State;
(B) appear to be intended--
(i) to intimidate or coerce a civilian population;
(ii) to influence the policy of a government by
intimidation or coercion; or
(iii) to affect the conduct of a government by mass
destruction, assassination, or kidnapping; and

(C) occur primarily outside the territorial jurisdiction of
the United States, or transcend national boundaries in terms of
the means by which they are accomplished, the persons they
appear intended to intimidate or coerce, or the locale in which
their perpetrators operate or seek asylum;

It's a pretty simple and straight forward definition and applying it to Israel would classify them as a terrorist nation.

In addition, Israel is currently in violation of over 30 UN Security Council Resolutions - OVER 30!!! And has been so for over 30 years!! We've been at war with Iraq for 7 years because they were in violation of maybe two or three.

On top of that and besides all the terrorist activities of Israel over those years, Israel has bulldozed an American Citizen to death. Does anyone remember or care about Rachel Corrie? If you don't know who she is, look it up.

None of this condones what Hammas has done in behalf of the Palestinian people but Israel needs to be stopped. Israel is the 12 year old bully who beats the living crap out of a 4 year old because the 4 year old kicked them in the shins.

For a people and a nation who purports to be 'the chosen people of God', Israel is disgusting. And if that's what the Judeo/Christian God supports in his 'chosen' people, then that God is disgusting as well.

Israel NEEDS to be stopped and brought under control. The BULLY needs a good spanking.

The next time you see Dershowitz on PBS, see it for exactly what it is.
The next time Bloomberg does a photo-op in an Israeli bomb shelter, is exactly the time we'll know what has long been suspected.

Connect the dots, focus on cause & effect and there's your template.

You're so cute!

There is no international law beyond this: The biggest and baddest makes the law.

Since we Americans no longer give a shit about anything that we once stood for and we were the real teeth of the UN anybody can do whatever they want to anybody else and the UN won't do squat about it.

You'll notice how nobody's in jail for torture or murder.

That's because the biggest dog made the rules.

“The financing for these whorehouses is linked directly to AIPAC,

Indicted GOP lobbyist Abramoff operated sex, spy ring at Watergate, Ritz-Carlton, Sheraton hotels

extracts from the story,

Prostitutes financed by Jack Abramoff and linked to AIPAC and former Israeli prime minister serviced House, Senate members, media hosts, top military, other feds

The corruption and crimes surrounding the indicted Republican lobbyist were widespread and far-reaching enough to cause Fitzgerald to impanel a separate grand jury, often referred to by intelligence officials as the “Franklin grand jury,” which is hearing testimony and examining Abramoff linked evidence tied to the Iraq War, September 11 and related issues.

Pentagon analyst Larry Franklin was arrested for leaking classified U.S. government information to AIPAC officials Steve Rosen and Keith Weissman who reportedly leaked information to Israel concerning a controversial proposal by Department of Defense hardliners to destabilize Iran.

The federal source wishing to remain anonymous said that additional government officials are currently testifying this month before the Franklin grand jury about Abramoff, the GOP-linked prostitution ring and its ties to AIPAC.

President Bush has emphatically denied that he personally knows Abramoff, despite CIA documents indicating the indicted lobbyist visited the White House 200 times during the first ten months of the Bush presidency—often enough for a personal visit on every business day of each month, according to wide news reports.

Despite the daily White House visits, Bush said “I’ve never sat down with him and had a discussion with the guy,” adding, “I’m also mindful that we live in a world in which those pictures will be used for pure political purposes,” attempting to justify his unwillingness at first to release photos with Abramoff.

Fitzgerald is reportedly convinced that the Bush administration wanted Valerie Plame-Wilson’s identity as a CIA official leaked because her intelligence team had identified Israeli Mossad operatives inside Iran who were to receive weapons of mass destruction (WMD) to be delivered through Turkey and planted in Iraq to further the president’s case for war, said the intelligence expert.

“The financing for these whorehouses is linked directly to AIPAC, Benjamin Netanyahu, Marc Rich and Jack Abramoff; and the money trail ties back to American International Group (AIG), Hank Greenberg and Doug Alexander—former British Minister of E-Commerce,” said Heneghan.

I live with a family where the father is studying under Chuck Smith of Calvary Chapel to become pastor of a church under the Calvary Chapel umbrella. Calvary chapel unequivocally supports Israel’s right to dispossess Islam of its territories because all Islamic countries are terrorist countries. Israel is also the most blessed nation of all nations on earth and therefore can do no malfeasance, which implies that all the churches under the Calvary Chapel umbrella support any and all military actions by Israel. There are other churches that were part of the Calvary Chapel Association which have huge followings worldwide. The Harvest Crusade ministry founded by C. Peter Wagner was once associated with Calvary chapel and I would assume continues to support a significant portion of the beliefs and reasoning’s of Calvary Chapel. The Vineyard Ministries, founded by John Wimbwe, was also a Calvary Chapel associate before being dissociated in 1992 and reorganizing as the Vineyard ministries at that time. From what I’ve read about the Vineyard Ministries and what I know about Calvary Chapel, I believe that there still exists a supportive bond between the two as their beliefs and reasoning’s are very similar.

The point I’m trying to make here is that if these three organizations are giving cart blanch support to Israel, then there is a tremendous political and economic motive for elected officials to also lend chart blanch support to Israel. I rarely see any criticism of the church even though it represents a significant contingent to policy making in the United States. And I think that if there is going to be real change in this country, then there is going to have to be real criticism of the policies of these churches and analysis of their campaign contributions, which take the form of tacit promotion of candidates through admonishments at after church gatherings.

I have never heard a single criticism of Billy Graham, though I have never heard Billy Graham ever criticize a single instance of U.S. atrocities no matter how egregious. Billy Graham came up through the same ranks as Sarah Palin, and though we have no trouble criticizing Palin, for some reason Billy Graham is off limits. Yet it is Billy Graham who advises George W. Bush regularly on spiritually and other matters concerning his actions as president. There has to be dialogue here if we are going to get to the root of the problem

According to the evangelical movement’s ministers, there will only be peace on earth after Israel is vindicated and the infidels are either eliminated from the earth or converted to Christianity as Jews are the chosen people and the only way to enjoy the same blessings is to become Christian.

It seems awfully coincidental that Congress is giving cart blanch support to Israel just as our fundamentalist evangelical churches are demanding; could there be political capital in courting the evangelical movement?

I have also talked to Hamas sympathetic Palestinians in the U.S. who harbor reasoning’s similar to the Christians, as they believe that Islam is the only true pure religion on earth and that there will only be peace after all the world recognizes the truth of Islam.

But all these religions derive from their predecessors: the Egyptians, the Babylonians, the Greeks, the Persians and the Romans, so none have any real claim to either originality or absolute truth or purity.

Then there is the Military Industrial Congressional complex that makes money off war and the United States is in an economic recession and needs to sell the only thing it still has competitive dominance in, military hardware and logistics.

The combination of religious fundamentalism driving the machinery of government and the need to earn a living the only way they know how, by fighting wars, as Chalmers Johnson would say, you’ll see a lot more of it.

We acknowledge receipt of your e-mail regarding the IDF campaign to
protect the residents of southern Israel.

For the past eight years, hundreds of thousands of Israelis have lived
under the specter of incessant and indiscriminate rocket attacks from
the Gaza Strip. While people in other countries have carried about
their normal routines, sending their children to school and walking
their dogs in the park, the people of Sderot and its neighboring
communities have been denied such luxuries - for fear of being hit by
incoming missiles

No sovereign
nation should be expected to tolerate the daily targeting of its people,
and yet the State of Israel has exercised maximum restraint and worked
relentlessly to achieve a peaceful solution with the Palestinians.

Since seizing control of the Gaza Strip by way of a violent coup in June
2007, Hamas - a terrorist organization allied with Iran, Syria and
Hizbullah - has escalated its assault on the State of Israel. Even a
truce with Israel was abused by Hamas which persisted in attacking
Israeli towns, while also conspiring to upgrade its terrorist
capabilities, manufacture and smuggle massive quantities of weapons into
Gaza and construct a network of underground tunnels for combat purposes.
Now, after Hamas has unilaterally abandoned this ceasefire and expanded
the range of its missiles to threaten close to one million Israelis, the
State of Israel must act decisively to defend its citizens.

In 2005, the Disengagement plan brought an end to Israel's presence in
the Gaza Strip, with the hope and aspiration that its Palestinian
residents would begin to govern themselves and prosper. Israel has no
desire to re-establish its hold over Gaza, but has resolved - in
self-defense - to gain control over areas from which rockets are being
launched on Israeli towns, and to significantly disable the Hamas
terrorist infrastructure. Ultimately, Operation Cast Lead aims to
produce lasting change in the security predicament affecting residents
of Southern Israel, and Israel expects the international community to
lend its support in the fight against Hamas terror. Terrorism is
terrorism no matter where it occurs.

At the same time, the IDF is taking great pains to direct its activities
exclusively against terrorists. Hamas, however, callously places
Palestinian civilians in harm's way, using schools, mosques, other
public institutions and even private homes as arsenals and bases of
operation - effectively taking the Palestinians of Gaza hostage and
using them as human shields. Responsibility for injury to civilians in
Gaza rests solely with Hamas. In contrast, the State of Israel is doing
its utmost to minimize any harm to the Palestinian civilian populace;
hundreds of trucks carrying humanitarian aid have been allowed passage
into Gaza and this assistance will continue. There is no humanitarian
crisis in the Gaza Strip.

The State of Israel seeks peace and will remain steadfast in its pursuit
of a two-state solution that will allow Israelis and Palestinians to
live together as neighbors in harmony.

Sincerely,

Prime Minister's Office - E-Correspondence

Zionist Exterminators

Zunes, who once proclaimed to being a Zionist does not go far enough. The problem is JEWISH RACISM, Talmudic Judaism, as Michael Hoffman has shown in his new book Discovering Judaism. Also, Zunes does not analyze the empirical facts of what Petras calls the Zionist Power Configuration, which goes beyond the Dumocraps and into every nook and cranny of Zionist Occupied America:

JAMES PETRAS: Like all totalitarians in the past, the Jewish state boasts of having systematically pre-planned the extermination campaign - months in advance - up to and including the precise hour and day of the bombing to coincide with inflicting the maximum murder of civilians: The rockets and bombs fell as children were leaving school, as graduating police cadets were receiving their diplomas and as frantic mothers ran out from their homes to find their sons and daughters. The mass military extermination campaign was a follow up of its non-stop total economic embargo and unremitting selective assassination campaign of the previous two years: Both were designed to purge Palestine of its Arab population, first via mass hunger, disease, humiliation and violent intimidation and the proxy power grab by the PLO Quislings under Zionist puppet Abbas. When they discovered that mass hunger and selective Israeli murder only strengthened the population's links to its democratically elected government and the resolve of the Hamas government to resist Israel, the Israeli regimes unleashed its entire arsenal of weapons, including its new 'American gifts' up-to-date 1000 pound 'bunker buster' bombs and high tech missiles to incinerate large numbers of human beings within their deadly radius and to obliterate Palestinian civilization.... The Israeli totalitarian leaders knew with confidence that they could act and they could kill with impunity, locally and before the entire world, because of the influence of the US Zionist Power Configuration in and over the US White House and Congress. They knew they had the full backing of all the major Israeli political parties (Right, Left and Center), trade unions, mass media and especially public opinion. Israeli state terror is backed by 81% of Jewish Israelis according to a poll taken by Israel's Channel 10 (Financial Times December 30, 2008). Israeli totalitarian violence and extermination of Palestinians is extremely popular among the Jewish electorate, especially in raising support for the Labor Party candidate Minister Ehud Barak. They knew they would 'succeed' with virtually no casualties because they bombed, burned and dismembered a defenseless population totally lacking the minimum means to defend themselves from F16 bombers, helicopter gun ships and missile assaults. The vile depravity of the assault on the defenseless population is matched by the utter cowardice of the Israeli military command and its cheering bloodthirsty public ensconced behind their aerial monopoly. http://www.middle-east-online.com/english/?id=29545

I don't believe that this critical story of Israel's entre into Gaza is wrong. I believe that it is illogical from Israel's perspective and from every Jew that knows what our legacy has been in the past; discrimination, abuse, hatred, wishes for our annihilation. Israel is the response to Jewish determination of "never again." I support this perspective and will support Israel's entitlement to proceed under this banner.
I say to those who hate all Jews, "hate us but leave us alone. You have the same reasons to hate our existence as Hitler had. We will not allow anyone to murder us again because of who and what we are."
This is my position, from a Holocaust survivor.

It never fails...whenever Israel defends itself against attack, the anti-Semitic comments start flying. It's time to stop pointing fingers and get to the root of the problem, which is Hamas, who has vowed to destroy Israel and keeps taking "pot shots" at Israel to deliberately goad them. Hamas are terrorists--plain & simple--fanatical, single-minded terrorists, who if given the chance, would not hesitate to kill us all in a heartbeat. It's time to quit pussyfooting around and squabbling about who's doing what to whom, and do what needs to be done--get rid of Hamas--we all make choices in life, and they have chosen to destroy all on earth who do not agree with them or do not like them, rather than learning to live in harmony, but they cannot keep taunting Israel and then whining when they suffer the consequences.

Hamas' leadership and its behavior since winning the Palestinian elections has been deeply disappointing.

Despite the electoral support of almost 2/3 of the Palestinian voters, Hamas has never shown the basic requirement of a legitimate government: willingness to let its neighbors and its own people live in peace.

I am referring to Hamas' dedication to the destruction of the State of Israel and its mobilization of its own people for this evil end.

Whatever humanitarian and governmental functions Hamas has undertaken have been subordinated to the goal of total war against Israel. This in the face of the Israeli withdrawal from Gaza and ongoing Israeli- Palestinian Authority negotiations to develop a two-state peace treaty.

The regrettable and terrible loss of property and civilian lives in the current conflict clearly stems from the Hamas decision to deploy its forces in heavily populated areas and cynically use its population as a shield from IDF.

It is a sad statement of cravenness and depravity on the part of Hamas that their armed wing depends on the proximity of defenseless non-combatants for safety. This stands on its head any notion that Hamas is a protector of Palestinians.

One can only hope that public opinion, rightfully repulsed by the bloody pictures of wounded children, will powerfully push Hamas toward a more conciliatory role with Israel and other neighboring countries.

I ask the question quite seriously and would like a serious answer. I have just watched a senator for Nebraska being interviewed by Rachel Maddow on Tuesday night. In rather more considered language, he parroted the misinformation, half truths and downright lies that we are used to hearing from many of the pro-Israel posts on this site.

Apparently, this senator sits on some defence committee or other. Is this really the calibre of person who helps determine the US's foreign policy?

The Battle between Good and Evil was won by Satan when these Three Religions began playing servants to his agenda. all three have been a Plague on Humanity. They are all Heretics and minions.
Seem thses three Religions have been able to hold mankind Hostage for nearly 2 millenia, it's time to turn the tables.
it's time to make Religious Philosophy a Personal endeavor Not a Community or Global quest.
All Three have consistently Broken even the most basic of gods 'Laws', so why continue to grant them the title of 'Faithful'..they are not. Killing, coveting, bearing false witness, not to mention seizing the almighty's sole entitlement of Judgement.Hell they Worship mere Books, men and Brick & Mortar, which means they have Rebuked even the first two commandment!!!
As democrats with a very deverse base, We have the opportunity to take away such powers of these entities and Return the Power to Humanity. The three have not followed the laws of man and have Spit on the Laws of 'god'. They have facilitated the reign of 'Satan' through their blood thristy doctrines for 2 millenia...Time to kick them to the curb or at least send them back into their churches, temples and mosques so they can not Hurt humanity any more.

Hamas rockets blessed by pseudo-left anti-Semites

Where were all the naysayers during the Hamas rocket fire? Missing in action. This is not a political war; it is a religious one. Moslems have been slaughtering Jews since Mohammed. When the Palestinians controlled Jerusalem, Jews were not allowed in the old city. This is what Hamas has asked for. Nobody wins in war, but you brought this on with your silence. Now it's Israel's fault? Ridiculous! How far back does your reading of history go--yesterday?

No Change from Obama

I knew as soon as I saw that Hillary was going to be the Secretary of State that there would be "NO CHANGE" in our Middle East non-policy stand. (And no, I am not an anti-Hillary person.) I was very disappointed and I'm finding that my fears were well-founded. From this article and other things that I have observed.

When will we ever learn? It's times like this that I am ashamed to be an American.

I'd like to know where my future political contributions are going.
(Move-On can Fuhgettaboutit; my $$$ goes to Amnesty International.)
I too am ashamed of my party, and can only hope Obama will be doing more to censor the Israelis in their Genocide than he has shown. Maybe he does plan to, but figures this is the worst time, while the Mossad can still bump him off (it'd no doubt be more consequential after he's been seated).
Since the U.S. has no more moral high ground or authority after what we did to the Iraquis, -And the Afghanis, this whole mess could easily be addressed as a "No taxation without Representation" issue, and recind the "aid" we are forced to send them every year from our hard-earned taxes. Money and possession is all the Israeli Jews care about anyway; let's speak to them in their own language.
Ain't it great to be "OWNED" by these bastards!?

Bravo! The Israeli militarist point of view is embedded in the American political system (thanks to Aipac, et al.) and it puts the security of the US at risk while it undermines the long-term stability of Israel itself.

Israel needs to get out of the Golan Heights and get out of the West Bank. Congressional complicity in the theft of Palestinian land, water, civil rights, etc., is beneath contempt.

there is only the war within each human being between vengeance and love. we are all Jews, we are all Palestinians, we are all Muslims we are all Hindis, we are all Christians we are all atheists, we are all new agers and the fate of the planet itself is at stake. sticks and stones and cluster bombs and uranium and tit for tat do harm beings, towns, countries, and the world itself is in jeopardy with nuclear weapons in play. Names must never hurt us. for Jews to adopt the policy of the Nazis and for the USA to say nothing adds not only injury to insult, but diminishes the life and possibility of each human being.

"we are not human beings having a spiritual experience, we are spiritual beings having a human existence." - de Chardin

I am very tired of hearing about a bunch of people on the back side of the world who can't play nice. Dad always said firing rockets at the neighbors might piss them off. Most folks might even say that gesture is a bit more than rude. Israel kills Palestinians. Palestinians helped make terrorism what it is today (PLO, Hamas, etc.). Palestinians kill Isrealis. At the end of the day, why should it matter? If one side would just wipe out the other, the whole thing would cease to annoy and bore me. And there'd be peace. Ha ha...

We must all face the facts. Unless we bombard(figuratively) congress with letters and emails condemning the actions of Israel and the United states complicity in their actions the following needless atrocities will continue unabated. PLEASE PASS IT ON

Shocking Report Says Israeli Troops "Stomping Heads" Of Palestinian
Babies

A most shocking report against the Israeli Military Forces currently
exterminating the Palestinian peoples in Gaza states that Norwegian
doctors have turned over evidence to the United Nations showing that IDF
Troops have 'stomped' the heads of at least 18 Arab babies causing
immediate death due to the 'ejection of mass brain matter'.

One of these Arab babies brutally stomped to death [pictured 2nd photo
left] was reported to be one-and-a-half years old and upon his skull
being crushed so that his brain matter expelled, the Israeli soldier
were reported to have 'screamed with delight' that this babies death was
'one less vermin we'll have to fight in the future'.

So senseless to the human mind have the Israeli atrocities against the
Palestinian become that the United Nations Human Rights Council has
scheduled an emergency meeting in yet another attempt to stop the mass
death of women and children by Israeli forces, and the Vatican's justice
and peace minister, Cardinal Renato Martino, has issued a warning to the
World that Israel has turned Gaza into a 'Nazi concentration camp'.

London's Times News Service is further reporting that: "The
International Committee of the Red Cross has accused the Israeli
military of "unacceptable" conduct and breaching international
humanitarian law after discovering four emaciated children living next
to the corpses of their mothers and other adults in bomb-shattered
houses in Gaza City.

The ICRC said that it had spent four days seeking Israeli guarantees of
safe passage so that it could gain access to the houses in the badly
damaged Zaytun neighbourhood of the city. It was finally allowed to send
in a rescue team and four Palestine Red Crescent Society ambulances
yesterday afternoon and said today that what they found was shocking.

In one house they discovered four small children, alive but too weak to
stand, next to the bodies of their dead mothers. In all their were 12
dead bodies lying on mattresses.
In another house they found 15 survivors of the Israeli bombardment,
several of them wounded, and in a third, three corpses. At that point
they were ordered to leave by Israeli soldiers manning a post some 80
metres away, but they refused to do so."

Israeli government reaction to the growing Global outrage over the
atrocities being committed by their soldiers continues to be
indifferent, and as we had previously stated in our January 5th report,
"Israeli 'Sound Bombs' Reported 'Exploding' Wombs Of Pregnant
Palestinian Woman And Girls":

"Top diplomatic officials said that even if the Security Council does
approve a resolution that conflicts with Israel's interests in its next
meeting, "it's no big deal", and certainly will not interfere with the
continuation of Israel's operation."

Sadly, the American people are remaining silent about this brutal
carnage even though it is their aircraft, tanks, artillery and bombs
that are catastrophically destroying the Palestinian peoples and that
they have given freely to the Israelis at the cost of hundreds of
billions of dollars.
